I’m getting married June 1, 2013 and we recently booked our reception hall. Theyre giving us a hurricane vase (which holds the skinny tall candles) a circle mirror for under it and 3 tea light candle holders.. I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how to dress them up!
I cant put water in them because where the candle sits is a big hole so the water would leak out, basically they told me water was a no-go which is what i had my heart set on..
Were having about 20 tables so I dont really want to spend more than $5-10 on each table for extra stuff.. They dont provide colored napkins so I NEED a pop of color on the table!!
We don’t really have a “theme” persay but our colors are black, white and purple.. We’re using Regency from David’s bridal for the bridesmaids dresses.. I plan on carrying all purple roses against my white dress and having the girls carry white roses against their purple..
Please help! I’m open to anything and all comments/ideas are greatly appreciated!
Heres the picture she sent me of what they provide!

You could use something purple- beads, gems, ornaments, berries, flowers etc at the base of the candle inside the hurricane vase. I’m not a fan of using just petals but this pic will give you an idea of how it will look adding color inside the vase.
Or you could surround the base of the hurricane with a purple wreath of fresh or silk flowers, berries etc. Perhaps a lavender wreath? no last minute work.
or a purple feather wreath? These are easy to make- get a wreath form at the craft store and wrap it with an inexpensive boa from the dollar store.

I like the lavender wreath. The would be very pretty.
I have the opposit problem, hurricane vases are free as well, but we are only allowed floating candles.
I didnt want floating, but I guess its easier to decorate Im not doing wreaths, and my centerpieces litteraly are costing me less than $3. Not bad!
Another option is to skip decorating the vase and going for a purple overlay. They usually run about $7 where I live. (to rent)

I also have hurricane vases to decorate. I had previosuly purchased centerpieces from Hobby Lobby but my co-worker recently gave me 16 hurricane shades/vases as well. They were free, so of course I took the purchased centerpieces back. I too am lost on ideas. But its weird because I was thinking of doing something similiar to the 2nd picture posted: a long candle or pillar candle with fake purple flowers (from Dollar Tree) surrounding the bottom of inside of vase. Then I will sprinkle purple rose petals around them. I also have picture frames (for table numbers) and heart-shaped candy dishes to add to tables. I purchased small “fish” bowls but dont think I will use them.
