I am hoping not. We live in Baltimore and are right on the water. My Fiance lived here during Isabelle though and the house didn’t sustain any damage. I am hoping this hurricane weakens as it moves up the coast.
To prepare we are taping up the windows and buying some candles and oil lamps. We have a few non perishables but the storm itself is only gonna be for 24 hours or so, so I am not terribly worried about running out of food.
I really hope this hurricane weakens too. I live inland (in Massachusetts), but we’re going to get tropical conditions out of this one.
I hope the storm weakens. I can’t fathom NYC being evacuated due to a hurricane. These things aren’t supposed to happen there. I grew up in Queens and my old town is in one of the evacuation zones. Something like this was never even a thought when we lived there. Blizzards and white outs? Sure, but hurricanes? Nope.
I live Upstate now and we’re under a tropical storm watch which is said to produce 80 mph winds and 10+ inches of rain. I feel terrible for stressing over losing power when people are actually being evacuated but being in the “dark” (i.e. without electricity) gives me serious anxiety.
