My wedding also got cancelled on August 27 as our venue is on Long Island City in NY and they had a mandatory evacuation….and we have not yet been able to reschedule a date…today they gave us four dates that are available for the rest of 2011: 9/11, 12/23, 12/24…I’m devasted. The last date is Sunday, November 6 and we may have to take it if we want to get married this year…I’m still having a very difficult time accepting it all! But I know I’m not alone.

So sorry to hear all of this!! Glad that everyone is safe and able to take it in stride.

What happen to out of town guests? Are they able to come back for the new date?

@Heidigm221

We lucked out and a wedding for Saturday, Nov 5 was cancelled (they never put down a deposit and it somehow slipped through the cracks)! So we did get our Saturday afterall. We’re excited for the date, but it has still be difficult for me to get back into the wedding planning excitement. I’m sure it will return eventually.

Good luck to all the brides effected by Irene!

@Heidigm221:Similar thing happened to me, but just curious, is your florist willing to give you some sort of refund or credit? Did you pay her in full when the wedding was cancelled? Mine is only refunding labor costs, which is nothing compared to what we paid (we paid in full). Just wondering if other florists are being as unreasonable as mine.
