Rain & Wind Bands from the outer edges of the Hurricane are just starting in Eastern Ontario…
Current temp is 14 C (57 F) which is fairly balmy for this time of year. We are getting a light rain, and winds in the 32 Kph Range (20 Mph) with the occasional gust to 50 Kph (31 Mph) so still very very tame here !!
They say the BIG stuff will get here over the next 48 to 72 Hours.
Here is a photo of where my Dad lives. About an hour and a half away from me.
Following this while I was at work today. Hoping everyone is staying safe!
I read that it’s hit Washington, how close/far is that from Seattle? We’ve got friends there and we haven’t heard anything.
Iv been trying to follow this thread for the last couple of days, sounds like its getting pretty bad 🙁
stay safe bees, thinking of you all!
How did everyone on the East Coast pull up after last night, what’s the damage?? Thinking of you all.
Well, here’s a shot of the street in front of my apartment last night: https://twitter.com/ramgopal5/status/263084483035684865/photo/1

Luckily we’re not there–my office has DH and me staying in a hotel in midtown Manhattan so I can get to work (where I am now). But I can’t believe the flooding pics I’m seeing. I live in Jersey City, next to Hoboken, and it is insane there. I have no idea when we’re going to be able to get back home. And honestly, I’m kind of annoyed that I feel like there is virtually no national coverage of that side of the river (and I work in news!). It’s all about lower Manhattan when the opposite side of the river is flooded just as bad. Hoboken has called in the National Guard and the mayor of the city estimates 50 percent of the city is flooded, but I have yet to see a correspondent reporting from there.
Hey bees! Just wanted to check in… I think we kept power through the night.. HaVen’t gone outside yet… I’ll update later
Thoughts and prayers for all the bees affected by Sandy.
Virginia checking in… we had a lot of wind & rain but are so SO lucky that we never lost power. Many people in our area had some flickering, but I don’t think ours did at all. We tend to be very lucky in these situations… I don’t know if we just have the best power grid in the state or if it’s just luck (even last year’s ‘hurri-quake’ only knocked our power out for a few hours- the people who lived across the street from us didn’t have power for like 4 days or something. So odd.
Anwyay, how’s everyone else doing? I’ve been in touch with a few other Bees who live in NoVA/DC and they’re doing ok. No power for some, but otherwise everyone is safe.
Anyone hear from Rouquine? I know she was very close to the brunt of the storm & she had been worried about her brother… any update? I imagine the internet is down in the area so if anyone can let us know if she’s ok that would be fabulous.
As for everyone else affected by the storm- thoughts & prayers for a quick return of power and know that there are a LOT of people sending out positive thoughts & lots of prayers 🙂
