@Sarie415:  We went to Barbados for our honeymoon in October. We wanted somewhere we could fly non-stop and easily from NY and it’s also outside of the hurricane area (they haven’t gotten a bad storm in like 100 years? – I can’t remember the specifics, DH did the research). They have all inclusives there, but we rented a condo on VRBO.

DH did all the booking so I don’t know the final cost, but it wasn’t a bank breaker by any means. I think we saves a lot of money by getting a condo rather than staying at an all inclusive.

@Sarie415:  Check http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/, applevacations.com and expedia.com – their vacations. We Just booked our DW for $2300, for the both of us – including airfair to the Dominican Republic for 5 nights.

We went to Aruba in September and the total of two plane tickets and 7 nights in a very nice hotel totaled about $2600.  The island is amazing, safe, and has beautiful weather year round because it’s located outside of the hurricane belt.
