I just got back from Belize on Sunday. The weather was perfect 9.5 of 10 days. On Saturday a tropical storm blew through which was a some rain before sunrise, and then strong wind and big waves for the morning. By the afternoon we were swimming under blue skies. I would buy travel insurance if you’re really concerned. We had travel insurance with Airmiles (we bought our flights with our points) and they had awesome coverage for hurricanes, illness, etc. I would just double check at what point they’re willing to cover changing flights or having to delay your trip, ie What official advisories have to be issued?

You must be going this weekend then?  The storm that’s out there now is supposed to be in Florida tonight (it certainly seems like it’s here now!), so I wouldn’t think you’d have so much to worry about this weekend.

My brother’s honeymoon was in Sept. They went to Aruba, they loved it, and they weren’t worrying about hurricanes.

Artbee is right, if you choose the ABCs it’s not so bad. Belize is relatively well sheltered as well. I’m just happy the storm came through the day before we left, although it was originally forecasted to hit the day we left, so we were researching alternate flights, etc in case we had to leave early. Storms can be unpredictable though, so your best bets are ABC islands, insurance, and crossing your fingers 😉

I’m super jealous btw, I’m dying to go to St Lucia!
