Hi RI and SE Mass brides. I am getting married in October and am a bit worried about hurricanes messing up our big day. Any brides in a similar situation? Did you invest in insurance? Help!

I was a SE Mass October 2012 bride and didn’t worry about hurricanes as the biggest weather concern. (Mine was cool and wet, which I basically got.) The ones that have hit around here in the last couple of years have been at the end of August/beginning of September. I think it has usually cooled off enough that a hurricane wouldn’t be able to get too much strength in October. (knock on wood)
@crocodilerock: I am getting married in Bristol, RI in September. The ENTIRE event is outdoors and I am terrified if there’s a hurricane! Even just rain would really ruin a lot of my plans. The ceremony is outside and the reception is in a tent. I suppose if it just rains we can still have the reception in the tent, but I’m not sure what I’d do about the ceremony. The biggest ticket item for me for the wedding was the venue, and it’s mostly because it’s so gorgeous! If it’s ruined by a storm I will feel I wasted money on a beautiful venue when really I should have just done somewhere cheaper and indoors.
