@Charlies_Angel:  honey  most babies are the result of drunken nignts and faulty contraception.

I think his reaction was because you asked him to lay off the drinking.. He’s probably fine with TTC this month but asking a man to make a change like that is asking for trouble – I know because I suggested to Darling Husband that he takes men’s vitamins. I got a similar reply. See how you go ttc while he still drinks alcohol. I know a lot of people who conceived while not making enormous lifestyle changes.

Sorry to hear this has happened, I can see that it would be extremely disappointing to have to wait another month. I think often the thought of children isn’t scary to men until the day they start trying for one – then it sinks in how much work it’ll be! Maybe just give him the month to get used to the thought, and he will hopefully be ready to try next month. Good luck.

I think for some women TTC is ovulation sticks, temping, charting ect and for some men it is woohooo we are going to do it more.  The first step in TTC should just be getting off BC…worry about the rest of the stuff when you have to.

@Charlies_Angel:  How old are you? Do you have health problems that could affect fertility? Is there a reason you want to conceive immediately? You have only been married about six months-many people want to enjoy being newlyweds for at least the first year. Maybe he’s having a hard time giving that up. Maybe he was looking forward to the TTC journey (ie lots of unprotected sex) but the request to give up alcohol has got him panicking that your going to be going after him like a drill sargent.

Remember that once you’re a parent, you’re a parent forever. Back off a bit and enjoy the time you still have with your husband!

You just got off BC.  I know people hate to hear “just relax” but there’s no reason to turn TTC into a military operation right out of the gate.  Have fun with it for awhile, and if you aren’t pregnant within a few months, maybe your husband will be more receptive to making lifestyle changes.
