Thanks, that is good to know about the unemployment. Poor DH is so disgusted with the whole thing, he just wants nothing to do with it- even bothering with the unemployment, but it would help while he is not working (we were living paycheck to paycheck anyway). Plus, they “suspended him” for an entire week- so that was 40 hours he could not get before they even would let him go! I ate so much ice cream, it was horrible!
I know, I agree. Thanks for the support. It makes me want to be an attorney. If only what was good, honest, or true would win out, but unfortunately these companies know exactly what they are doing, and seem to do things in a way that they are not liable :/
That place was the worst! No benefits, raises, overtime, not even a Christmas or New Year’s/ Holiday card, no end of the year party. Nothing. It was set up so that you could never make commission.
Well, he is at an interview right now, so fingers crossed! 🙂

Oh I am so sorry to hear about this! How unfair.
Try to find ways to deal with your stress as best as possible- exercise, yoga, communication, some down time, etc.
I hope the best for you both!! Positive vibes your way.

Thanks for the advice, I think I will help him appeal.
I know. They told him that his register was off, and that it happened twice- on the 7th and 15th, and that he was suspended until they could investigate. So, he was only told about it when he was told he was being suspended. Then they just called him in and told him he was fired (the next week) because he had no explanation. He definitely was not given a chance to pay it back and they provided 0 evidence of any kind.

I would also encourage him to apply for unemployment ASAP. If his claim is rejected – fight it!

Thanks a lot! We have been working out or going for walks in between job searching. The exercise really helps!

Thanks! We are going to apply for the second week today, even though it is “under review”. Thanks for the support!

I know, I never used to believe that it could actually change ones mood so much..but it does!

@cbee: Tell him to file for unemployment anyway. If he gets denied, tell him to fight it. Seriously, they will have to prove he did something in order to prevent him from receiving benefits, and since he didn’t do it, they can’t prove it.
This really sucks, especially in this economy, but it can be done… Oh! I just remembered. Get the book, Thank You for Firing Me by Kitty Martini and Candice Reed. It’s a fantastic book. I read it after my temp job ended, and it really made a difference.
Hang in there…

Did they provide him with any proof that he stole? IF not, he can file a claim with the EEOC for wrongful termination, if they believe it has any merit they will file a charge with his former company and seek some type of compensation for your husband. Just something else to think about as you are seeking unemployment.
