caligirlinmichigan :  I’d take the prenatals if you can stomach them, otherwise any women’s multivitamin is good and I’d start taking them now. Don’t worry about the pill – come off when you’re ready to get pregnant. Some women might take a few cycles to adjust post-pill, but plenty of women get pregnant right away too.

I would recommend going off the pill now because you don’t know how long it’ll take your body to regulate.

Start pre natals 2 or 3 months before you start ttc.

Taking prenatals at night can make them easier to deal with. I’d start those whenever – unless you have special medical conditions, they’re fine to take. When you go off the pill depends on how much of a hurry you’re in. If you’re worried about your skin, I would personally wait until the month before you decide to start TTC. It may take your body a while to regulate. It might not. If you’re really into the details and want to start immediately with charting, tracking ovulation, etc. etc., you may want to go off the pill sooner and start tracking your cycles before you start TTC. If you’re more laid back, then just go for the 6 or so months of regular sex (at least once every three days or so) and see where that lands you.

Pregnancy may clear up your skin and it may not. You’re going to have to find a way to make your peace with the acne, at least while TTC and through pregnancy. It’s just one of those things.

Have you considered making a preTTC appointment with your doctor just to make sure everything is in order?

Start a great prental. If I were you and TTC was coming in the next 6 months I would get off BC and use an alternative method until that time. You won’t really know how your body will react to getting off BC, it could be totally fine or your cycles could be wonky for a few months. I’d rather know that ahead of time.

I was just thinking about how you were doing! Not much to add other than congrats on the exciting baby talks.

I’d stop BC now and see how your body regulates and then start prenatal vitamins 3 months prior. I was on BCP for 3 years and stopped and my period came back regular right away but other women I know have gone up to a year without getting a period so it’s vastly different for everyone. It also depends on what kind of BC you’re taking.

I stopped BC about 3 months before I knew we wanted to TTC.  I started taking a prenatal as soon as I went of the pill.

I agree with PP that you should come off the pill now and use alternative birth control methods (eg. condoms) until ready to TTC. Some women don’t get their periods back for 6-12 months after stopping the pill. Start taking a multivitamin that contains folic acid right away and switch to a prenatal closer to TTC.

Start taking a prenatal. I would stop the pill too, it can take months to leave your system. But if it makes you feel better, I’m 40+ weeks pregnant now and my skin has been ahhhhmazing during pregnancy. I’m kind of afraid to see what’s gonna happen when I finally give birth to this kid! Lol

ETA- I like the NatureMade prenatal. But get  wax coated one and take it at night. The other one that isn’t wax coated tastes funny

I haven’t started TTC yet, but I’m glad you’re planning to go to the dentist- that’s one thing I will definitely schedule before getting pregnant as they can’t do X-rays on you when you are! My friend lost a tooth when she was 6 months pregnant and had to wait until after the baby was born to have it fixed. Luckily it wasn’t one that showed when she smiled (I think it was actually a crown that came off).
