I got my IUD out 2 days ago, and I’m freaking out that we’ll forget to use condoms in the heat of the moment since we aren’t going to TTC until April/May (give or take) and my husband is the one who has been saying “we’re not ready” and “we’ll see where we’re at”, so I’m really worried that we’ll accidentally get pregnant before we’re ready. (I want to wait so I have time to give my body a break from synthetic hormones and to lose weight, so although mentally I’m as ready as I can be to get pregnant, I really would prefer to wait, and he has this idea of having x amount of money in the bank before we have a baby because then “we’ll be ready”) and I’ve been worried that if I accidentally got pregnant before we actually started trying he would be less than happy about it.
ANYWAY, so after my appointment I was reminding my husband that we need to get condoms and remember to use them so there isn’t an “oops”, and with a smile on his face he said “Well, if it happens it happens; it wouldn’t be a bad thing”.
I was floored, I guess he’s more ready than I thought he was!
Has anyone else’s husband/SO surprised them with being ready before they thought they would be???

We always kept condoms right next to us on our bedside table so it didnt mean fumbling around and losing the passion of the moment haha!
April/may really isnt that far away and it will soon roll around after christmas. I think if youre both mentally ready, thats the main thing. I know having a certain amount of money is important to you but the mental preperation is the crucial thing. Im sure if youre careful and aware of using protection the risk of an “oops” will be less.

YES! We were planning to not start TTC until Feb 2013…I was bummed because I really had wanted to start sooner, but Darling Husband said he wanted to wait. So early in the month while we were DTD, he turned it into a BD! He basically just said (mid-way) that he wanted to start..and so we did! I was soooo thrilled!

I’ve been surprised by how ready Darling Husband is. He never said anything or pushed it, but now that I am finally ready whenever I have my small freak outs of is this really happening and what if we change our minds he is always super calm about it.

@family_girl: We haven’t used condoms since we started dating over 3 years ago! So I’m just worried that since it’s totally out of habit we’ll forget… And although I want to wait, I would be absolutely thrilled with an “oops” I was more worried about my husband’s reaction, but since he apparently is more ok with an “oops” than actually planning to have a baby, I definitely won’t worry as much!
@OhBeeHive84: That’s awesome! Congratulations! and Fingers crossed that TTC doesn’t take too long! 🙂
@justelope: That’s so great, I know that I’m ready, but I still have some freak out moments so I know how you feel!

DH’s motto after I went off BC was the same – “if it happens, it happens”. I’m actually glad things worked out that way and we ended up pregnant, as otherwise I can’t see him actually commiting to TTCing.
