Many flowers can be dyed blue, but if it’s a flower you love there is nothing wrong with using it.

Hydrangeas are quintessential new england (I’m from Boston), they are classic.  It’s the only flower I can think of that grows so openly on Cape Cod.  I say, if you want blue, and you want New England, go for the hydrangea.  You will love seeing those summer colors when you look through your pictures in 50 years!

blue delphinium they come in lighter and darker shades.

if you love hydrangeas, i say use them. they’re such a pretty flower. 

@GoIzzy: nicely done, delphiniums were going to be my blue flower suggestion.
