So, ladies, I’m going to pose a bit of an ethical question here because I want your opinions.
Say you are designing an invitation for a friend. This friend only likes several commercial fonts, but can’t decide which. They want to see what it would look like with the writing they will be using. But, these fonts cost $20+ each. Friend will be paying for cost of fonts and design materials, but doesn’t want to shell out a ton of money.
Now, say that you are able to obtain copies of said fonts for free somehow. Clearly it is wrong to use a commercial font and not pay for it, that’s not the question. But, how wrong is it to use the downloaded fonts to make mock-ups, let the friend decide, then buy the one that is going in the finished product?
(And no, this isn’t 100% a hypothetical question, but I’m not the one doing the designing or the “friend”, either)
