(Closed) Hypothetical/for fun – using "Husband's name", Jr. for a boy? Too retro/dated?

Darling Husband is named after his dad, and he is II rather than Jr. They didn’t want him to be called Junior! If we have a son, he’ll be a III although I personally would rather let the kid have its own name. I can see how some people like that tradition though. I certainly won’t be offended if there’s not a IV.

I think the child should be entitled to it’s own name. I have a friend who shares his name with his father and grandfather so they all have to use different variations and my friend struggles slightly carving out his own identity. Think Michael, Mike and Mickey. It doesn’t help they are all in the same care either…

I was given my mother’s first name as a middle name and she was horrible so I’ve always hated it.  This has made me not want to do that to another child, let alone a junior.
