So, I will try to make this brief.
On a family trip (FI’s fam!) to Orlando, I decided to ask his sister to be my Maid/Matron of Honor (I am only having his sister and my sister so I made them co-MOH’s)
I have posted before about it, but his sister has Down Syndrome. She is such a doll and we get along great. She’s very important to Mr. Sunshine and I, even though I have only met her 1 other time.
Cue Friday night. As we were getting back to the hotel, I told her I had a surprise for her. She got ready for bed and we went down to her room (his parents were in there as well). She was hanging in her PJ’s and I handed her the card I made for her. She read it to herself, and she got to the end where it said “Will you be my MOH?” and she just sort of looked up at me with huge eyes and burst in to tears.
I completely lost it. She kind of did a victory “YES!” and said “FINALLY! I GET TO BE A MAID OF HONOR!!!” She hugged Mr. S first and he said “Thank Miss S! It was her idea!”She gave me a huge hug, and I asked her “is that a yes?” and then I gave her the sterling silver hummingbird necklace I bought for her.
She spent the rest of the weekend asking about the cutest details… what color she wanted her nails, how she wanted to get her ears pierced again so she could wear pretty earrings, etc… Mr. S’s mom even said that every morning she opened the box with the necklace to look at it before carefully putting it away again.
I could not be more excited that I asked her… It means the world to Mr. S and I to have her as such an important part of our big day!
Maybe this wasn’t so short… but it was too sweet not to share!!!

That is the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard! I’m so glad that you are going to be so loved on your big day.

Ohhh that is so sweet it gave me goosebumps!!! That is just too adorable. I love it when A) People are so genuinely excited and happy, B) Knowing that you helped make them that happy, and C) Giving a gift that keeps getting looked at and admired. That is just so sweet, she’s going to be the best Maid/Matron of Honor you could have asked for 🙂

That is so precious! Family is the most important thing and it is so great that you were able to embrace his. I am sure it means so much to him and his family.

That seriously just made me cry, too.. too precious. Such a sweet idea… Sounds like it meant the world to her, and it’s awesome that she has something like that necklace that she could wear or look at every day that will remind her of the honor she was so thrilled to receive 🙂

I am beyond excited! Mr. S’s brother got married several years ago and didn’t invite her to be a part of the wedding (he talks to and treats her like an animal… it’s disgusting) but she’s SO sweet. Mr. S’s dad said “This is a red carpet moment for her!”
I am just happy to have someone so enthusiastic as part of my wedding! HAHA 🙂

That is the sweetest! I have a special place in my heart for anybody with a disorder like that. My brother was MR and if he were still with us today he would be Mr. Shefs co-Best Man with his brother. I know that would have meant the world to him and me.

I agree with Miss Zig Zag, that may be the best Maid/Matron of Honor story ever.
