kittycatcat :

Post collision driving course?  I was not even aware that was a thing.  It sounds invaluable.  Thank you for mentioning it, Bee.

Where would OP find this type of training?

sassy411 :  I hadn’t heard about of it either, my company suggested it. The accident was in a work vehicle, so they were involved in all the paperwork. Mine was through the AA, which is one of the UK’s breakdown and recovery companies. Not sure if the OP is UK/US/elsewhere, but I would imagine similar companies offer similar things. I think you can also get them through certain driving instruction companies, or local police departments may also have useful information on them.

It really was worth doing, he had me drive back along the same route I was taking when I had the accident, which helped, and we talked about how to be more confident in various situations on the road. If you’ve had an accident during a manoeuvre, parking etc, they’ll also tailor the course so you can practice that too. Mine was a high speed accident, so we didn’t cover that aspect, but I’ve heard it’s very helpful.

Great info to have, Bee.  Thank you for posting.

I would imagine in the US, AAA would be the go to on this, based on your experience.

I am so sorry that you went through such a horrific experience.  It really changes you, doesn’t it?

sassy411 :  Oh yes, it really does. I’m much more cautious driving now, and I’m a nervous passenger. Luckily my injuries have mostly been sorted now, but psychologically it takes a toll.

OP, best of luck with your recovery, if you ever want to talk to someone who’s been through similar, feel free to contact me
