@okqueenbee: Yup, our cat yells at us and it exceptionally friendly when she is hungry so we know to feed her.  We are going to look at a kitten tonight so we might be getting her a little brother!

LOL, I am the same way, hubs made me put the bamboo in out bathroom. With all the humidity (even with the fan on) it does really well. I head read that the lucky “bamboo” is really a lily from a tropical rain forest. anyhow, that same source says to not put more than 1 inch of water in the bottom of the container. Also, the water isn’t supposed to have any minerals in it. (You can leave it out in a cup for 24 hours and then use it). Anyway, I still suck at plant mommy!

I’ve killed each and every plant in our place.  Until Mr. DG moved here I was doing great with plants… now… well, lets just say the man and dog are far more important!

Bumble bee

I totally have a black thumb.   I gave up a long time ago!

Fortunately where I live we have a lovely, lush courtyard.  So when people send me plants (which happens fairly often, actually) I give them to my apartment manager to incorporate into our community garden.

I somehow manage to kill and revive our Peace Lilly every week or so. *sigh* Our garden survived only because my Fiance intervened and saved it from me. I have killed off both a coconut tree and one of those mini palm trees in a pot. My poinsettias are already looking ragged, and I’ve only had them a few days! The ONLY plants I have managed to keep alive over extended periods of time are plants I found on the curb someone was throwing away- an aloe plant and a spider plant (which has turned into 4 pots of spider plants!). Despite not watering them for months at a time, over watering them, forgetting to put them somewhere with enough light, and once, leaving them in our unheated hallway for a week in the winter- they are still alive and growing! So, I Feel your plant killer black thumb pain!

This post actually makes me feel better.  I’m such a bad plant mom–I can kill pretty much anything–cacti, lucky bamboo, whatever.
