I am a long time stalker/reader, but this is my first post. Wanted to share my story to anyone that may go through the same experience while deciding on their dress. My wedding date is very, very soon – June 29. I live in Arkansas (for work), but my family & groom’s family and us are from Ohio. So we’ve been traveling back and forth getting things done. Exhausting, can’t wait for that honeymoon!
Last April, I visited home to check out the reception venue and decided it was the perfect opportunity to look for dresses… with my mom, both grandma’s, bridesmaids (5 of them), and groom’s mom. I wanted and truely thought I needed that Say Yes to the Dress experience. I’ll try to keep a long story short, we went to Alfred Angelo and I tried on several different dresses, didn’t really know what I was looking for or pictured myself in. So the sales lady picked out a dress for me that she thought I’d like, I walked out in it and everyone in my party was in awe with it. Immediately, I thought this was it – because of everyone’s high opinions of this dress (Alfred Angelo 2123) they made me ‘like’ the dress. I went home that night and slept on it, I woke up still having doubts. My mom suggested I go back the next day to look at it again, so I did. Turns out, my grandmother had paid the deposit on it. I had a rush of so many different emotions… excitement, anxiousness, and then still that hesitation… that would not leave me for another year. I paid for the dress, since in that moment of course I convinced myself it was that easy, it was my dress now.
I had hesitations and kept reading and looking at other posts on here of wedding dresses. It then occured to me, I hadn’t found what was going to make me feel like me. Like a bride! So long story short – I found THE dress, MY dress at a local bridal shop. (Essense of Australia D1460).
Essense – MY DRESS!

@lmdemberg: aww thank you! and trust me I don’t want to convince you or anyone that they need to go out and buy another dress lol… the financial burden sucks, of course. But if you’re not going to feel yourself in it, it’s definitely worth a shot. I went by myself to find the Essense gown and if anything it was a lesson to myself that I need to listen to myself and my own thoughts first before everyone else’s 🙂 good luck to you and your pick!

So I know this post was 2 years ago but I just want to say thank you for posting this! I’m in a 2 dress situation and thought I was the only one! Got talked into a sample dress and it’s just not me. The more I look at it the more I don’t like it. I need to go back and get the dress that is me. d1460 was the dress I’m obsessed with and I’m searching pictures of that dress now which is how I came across your post 🙂 Thanks again for sharing, it makes this stresssed bride feel a little better!
