Okay I’m not usually a selfish person (I know, I know…everyone tries to negate a not so great part of their personality at some point when it rears it’s ugly head!) but I’m obsessed with my registry! More specifically I’m obsessed with checking my registry.
My Fiance and I have lived together for six years and the majority of our things are hand-me-downs, old, mis-matched, and garage sale items. This is mostly because we started living together in college and then combined all the stuff we had at that time and never replaced it. We are also only just starting to make decent money in our careers but it has taken a lot of moving around the state in order to do so (which costs a lot of money!)
Part of our registry will be replacing:
* Towels we received as college freshmen ten years ago
* Kitchen utensils and cookware given to me upon going to college from my mom’s high school home-ec department when it closed.
* Garage sale dishes and kitchen appliances (aside from the mixer my mom gave me that she received at HER wedding almost 40 years ago!)
* Hand-me-down kitchen towels
* Bedding from my first apartment 7 years ago
So I’m feeling a bit selfish checking it so often but it’s so exciting to be getting rid of all of this old stuff and starting fresh with my new hubby! Anyone else in the same boat?

I know I am going to be the same way when we do ours… I want to upgrade the things we have not get the same or lower quality things…

Don’t worry about it. I check ours like 9 times a day. I can’t wait to replace all of our crap.

@LoveForShaun: I wouldn’t feel selfish about it. I upgraded some items when we got married. I got new sheets, plates, and a KitchenAid. Before we were engaged, I didn’t feel like I should have those until we were married. Almost two years later, I’m still making sure that we have sheets and other items. I just bought some new sheets since we tend to use one heavily and need to replace it in a year’s time.

I don’t think that’s greedy! It’s lovely to have nice towels and stuff. I think that the day I have matching towels is the day I will officially become An Adult.

@Beluga: I hear ya! I never thought I’d be so overcome with the idea of matching!
@MrsMcGyro: Me too! I update my Fiance regularly – guess what honey?! We will finally get rid of the crappy toaster whose only setting is ‘poptart’!
I’m glad I’m not the only one! Thanks ladies!

@MsPanda: Ha! Funny enough we used to have two – one from each of our college apartments. Then one finally crapped out on us! Time for a real four-slot toaster, not just two side by side!
