I think if you have a vision for your wedding that includes a certain hairstyle, then that’s your perogative.

We figured out the best dress together. I asked them to wear black shoes of their choosing. Other than that, I didn’t care. They weren’t used to the fact that I didn’t care about their hair, so 2 of them wore their hair same as me (half up half down with curls), one did an updo, and one had short hair so she just wore a cute headband.

@StormyRose: I find it odd that someone was upset about a hairstyle. I could see if it were like a 6 in high beehive or something or if you had to pay tons of money to get it professionally done. But someone up in arms over asking them to do a certain hairstyle is just weird to me.

Really? I think when you sign up for wedding you sign up to be someone’s doll. I’ve been in more weddings than what is normal (26) and only 5 or so let me choose what I wanted to do with my hair. I haven’t seen the other posts where people are arguing this othewise I would have commented it was silly 🙂

@mwitter80: 26 weddings? Wow, I have only been in 1, my own lol. Have you been able to rewear any of the dresses?

@StormyRose: Well that is like telling your Bridesmaid or Best Man to lose weight/gain weight. Or no tat’s or no getting pregnant before the wedding. There are just somethings that are huge personal space and big no no’s when it comes to BM’s.  Hair is one of them. I am not a fan of the telling the BM’s to wear a certain shoe either because everyone’s feet are different and some people can’t do high heels or what not.

I’ve honestly never seen that before… the main argument against it is the extra cost, but if either the bride is paying or it’s a hairstyle that can be done for free/not professionally, then if I were a Bridesmaid or Best Man I wouldn’t care either way.

I think it is weird that they care. I personally don’t care what my girls do with their hair but they both asked me what I preferred. Now asking to lose weight or not get pregnant I get, but HAIR? Really?

@MrsSl82be: Oh ya all of them Tongue out

Sense the sarcasm? All of the girls said, “I want to pick something you can wear again”, but really where would I wear them? another wedding? and risk being in the same dress as the bridesmaids? I couldn’t.

2 of them I got to wear more casual sun dresses and those I wore again.  I was also the “bestwoman” 2 times and I was able to rewear that dress because it was long and black with white trim and looked similar to a tux. I also owned 3 of the same dress in different colors. Another friend of mine bought them from me and her 3 bm’s wore them in a rainbow colored wedding. I sold some of them and donated most.

I am actually the real life 27 dresses 🙂 (although 1 was after my wedding)

I have been in one wedding where we all had to have the same hair style.  Maybe I am just really laid back, but I honestly didn’t care at all.  When I am a bridesmaid that day is not about me at all.  It’s about the bride.  If telling me how to wear my hair makes her happy, then that’s fine with me!

@mwitter80: Holy cow!!  You’re a popular lady!!

OP, the only reason I can see a problem with it is if the bride expected them to pay for it themselves.
