I am getting the david’s Bridal ct2406!!!!!!! Tried it on tonight, it was PERFECT! I didn’t cry or anything but had this overwhelming sense of calm and knowledge that THIS IS IT!
YAY! Now going to find it at a good price second hand, hopefully!
OH and I wore a necklace I’d bought recently (pearls/rhinestones) and it went with it like it was made for it. Plus my shoes (I bought my wedding shoes 2 months ago) are the PERFECT height, so in that regard and the fit overall, no alterations will be needed aside from maybe a bustle!! It’s strapless but I will wear something up top for sure. LOVE this dress!!!
No camera phone though so no pics of me in it. π

I LOVE this dress! Are you going to wear a sash with it? If so, what color? Congrats on finding the one!! π

@beckiesue: Thanks! I’m actually probably not going to do the sash. I tried one in blue and liked it better without it. Funny because I always imagined I would but I think it is sooo elegant and richly textured that it doesn’t need it! If I did a sash it would probably just be white. I am going to put fabric covered buttons ALL the way down the back though. I might have to change out the ones that are there already on the zipper, to match them, but I love the look of buttons from the top to the tip of the train. π I am so freakin’ excited! It made me feel beautiful, thin, and young! LOL! SInce I’m neither thin (size 14 street) or young really (39).. that’s a definite plus!

Very classic and elegant! I’m glad you’re ditching the sash. I think it takes away from the overall feel of the dress. Congrats on picking a beautiful gown!

@littlemissmango: Me too. π I know some people like it and I respect that but to me it makes it a little too prom-like. Or maybe something I wore for my fancy b-day dress when I was 7…? I can see it being fun for the reception but I think I’ll skip it entirely.
@2dBride: Thanks! Now we just have to dress the kids! Good thing about that is I can worry about it later since they grow! well, not the 18 year old but he said he’d like to try and lose some weight first and so we can wait on him too!

@MsInterpret: Totally nailed it! I’ve never really been a fan of sashes, but could never quite explain why… but that’s it exactly! Well especially in that pic. A bright, bold color like that definitely screams seven-year-old fancy party dress (lol), whereas I’ve seen cream or champagne sashes that are more appropriate. Anyways, good call! π

@littlemissmango: I think it depends on the shape of the dress too. This dress I was going for first had it but it seemed to fit the dress silhouette better and if I’d gotten this dress I was going to replace the sash with a pale pale blue one:

Of course it was in a champagne shade too.
The sash on this style dress (the David’s Bridal), for me, just caused an unnecessary interruption/distraction. I guess maybe on a plain dress it’s be okay but even then, as my almost 13-year-old son says “It kind of breaks up the body which isn’t very slimming!” lol. He’s showed the most interest in my dress search so far, above my mom and best friend and everyone else!

Yey!!! Congratulations!!! I actually considered that dress as well but the store didn’t have it in my size at the time so I didn’t get to try it on. Glad you finally found the one. The dress is classic and beautiful. π Also I am pretty sure I’ve seen at least 2 of this dress either on OnceWed or PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com. Let me look and I will let you know!
