Now of course to decide on bolero and jewelry and veil! I REALLY want to wear a birdcage veil and already have a floral fascinator/comb to make one with that I just adore. And I want a bolero or something for sure, and I already bought jewelry which goes with it but I don’t know about how i will go with the bolero and veil too… but it’s okay because there’s plenty of time for accesorizing!

FYI. When I bought mine in June, they said they were discontinuing the dress as it is now and will likely instead come out with another version of it. I don’t know if that is true but it’s what they told me in June. I liked the dress so I ordered the one I tried on, not willing to see what the “new version” looks like.

I won’t have the cash in full for it for a few more weeks, to order new I mean. I don’t hve an extra $600 at the moment. ๐ Hopefully I can find a pre-owned in the meantime. I was soooo hoping the 18 would fit but it is uncomfortable.. because what I found a lot of second hand were 18s! I would go that route if I knew how much it would cost to let it out just a bit. It’s mainly too snug around the top bustline and a teeny bit too tight in the waist. There’s an 18 on ebay with slip and veil and comb for $50 in white!
The 16W, according to the DB consultant, has more room for bustier women and it was a lot more comfy and zipped up more easily. In the 18 I felt like was wearing a corset!

PS, anyone see it in person and in both white and ivory? They only had white at the store. I really liked it and alwas imagined I’d go with white for the “snow” effect but some dresses, the difference is minimal. At my previous DB trip ivory was “okay” on me and I was open to it… but with this dress the white made my skin look great (i’m very pale with pink undertones and green eyes)…
I’m asking though because like I said, I’ve found this dress second hand, an hour from my house, my size, in ivory.
I will probably hold out to get white but I was just curious since I haven’t seen ivory in person on this dress.

They didn’t say when. I am a street size 16. The 16 zipped and was a little loose if I recall. My bust is a 40C at the moment.
The size 14 which I ordered does not zip but I’m having them put in the corset back for something like $120 so they said they preferred it that way…
I hear that letting dresses out is more difficult than taking in so if you have another DB around that has the 16W you might want to get in there to try that specific size on.
Good luck!

I couldn’t try on the actual 16w in that exact dress and they called around and the nearest one was in Arkansas (I’m in Texas!)… so she just pulled a couple dresses that were strapless with the same cut and princess seams and so forth in 16w and they fit fine. A little room in the waist but not to the point that it looked bad, and perfect fit on the bust. So she was suggesting a 16W would work no problem and it makes sense to me UNLESS there is some weirdness about Michaelangelo dresses? I think most of DB’s sizing is pretty standard with other DB dresses though.
She suggested the corset back option to me as well if I got the 18 but I love the buttons in the back so nope, not for me anyway. ๐

You should go see/try on the used one you found! Only an hour away… how can you NOT?
On a related note, I bought a used crinoline, in a size and brand I had tried on, and when it arrived it was too small. My seamstress swapped out the waist for a tie and it’s fine now, but she said a lot of stuff like this shrinks when it’s cleaned, so make sure you get the used dress in the size that’s too big for you, just in case!

You are right about shrinkage and all… and stretching and who knows. I think I said it already but in David’s Bridal a 16 crinoline was too small and a very worn 14 fit me!

Is anyone selling this dress (David’s Bridal CT2406) in a size 12, ivory (white would be OK too)? I am in Colorado and LOVE it but can’t afford to buy it new.
Thanks!
