The title says it all. I’ve had a hair trial, but I feel fundamentally confused about the style I want. This is my dress:
A bit of me wants a sort of modern nod to the vintage feel of the dress, like this:
But originally I wanted something slightly looser and more romantic, like this:
But I worried that style was too demure and I needed something a little sexier to avoid looking too conservative. So, at my hair trial, we tried some options, but I don’t feel in love with either of them.
And now I’ve started second guessing my decision to wear my hair up. I thought with the lace neckline an up do would be best, but perhaps I’m wrong? Although, I do like the idea of having my hair up and out of the way so I don’t have to worry about it. Anyway, what do you all think? What style should I go for? Any alternative suggestions from what is shown here would be gratefully received. For reference, I also plan to wear a pretty comb and a birdcage veil. Thank you for your advice!

I like the first and second photos. I voted for a loose updo, but you really could go either way with the dress. Sleek and sophisticated or more romantic. So basically, I’m no help….
Maybe something like the first photo in this post?

@NearlyWife: I really like the inspiration picture with the braid. I’m probably a little biased since I’m like 99.99% sure I want to incorporate some sort of braid into my wedding hairstyle, but I also think that style would look perfect with your dress.
As for your hair trial pictures, there are only subtle differences between the two but I do prefer the second hair trial picture (last picture posted). It’s a little looser and more romantic (which said you wanted), and looks most like the two inspiration pictures you posted (elements from each combined into one style).
Good luck! I hope you get it figured out soon!

I really loved the first picture – and I think an updo suits your dress the best, both the length and the lace. Gorgeous dress by the way!

I’m loving the first one.

Okay, this is helpful. Thank you. So, the first one is created with ‘milk maid braids’, if you will, which are then wrapped around the head. I don’t think my hair is long enough for that, plus I don’t think the back would look amazing. My stylist was going to do a single French braid along the top of my head to leave the back open for other styling options.
I agree that the second trial photo is better than the first, but I still think something more polished would be better. Also, I have slightly less hair now. I had a little panic attack after my trial because I thought it looked like I had a hair tumour, so I got a bit trimmed and some layers put in. Hoping that helps it look less unruly.

I LOVE the modern vintage braid updo. I think that goes perfectly with your dress.

Wow, the first one is so pretty and would look great with that style of dress. Don’t wear your hair down- It will look like “too much”, because your dress already has a high neckline and lace and all that. I voted No.1
