@LilDrAnya:  I completely agree with you. Food should be consumed! My fiance and me are both foodies and would not pass up the opportunity to partake in what we’re paying for. Utterly crazy not too. I’ve read here and there that some brides are not going to eat, I don’t like it. There is a time for dinner and brides should eat something.

We’re doing a sweetheart table too…but not making rounds.  We’re kind of shy…but we’re having extra chairs placed at our tables for folks to come chat for a bit.

Our wedding is small, and a weekend wedding…we’ll be seeing so much of everyone I don’t think anyone is going to be dying to talk to us when they could be eating instead ๐Ÿ™‚

Any wedding I’ve ever been to, the Bride eats. Usually there is a lull after speeches where everyone is seated and that’s the opportunity people can eat without interruption.

Our venue assigns a waiter to the bride and groom and makes a plate of all the cocktail hour food for the bridal party to enjoy after pictures in the bridal suite. So we’ll have that at least. I’m not super concerned about missing our dinner though because our venue is very well known for timing everything, so I’m sure there’s time budgeted for the bride and groom to enjoy their entrees.

Oh my I am eating.  I am thinking of a “tactful” way to tell ppl not to bother me while I eat as I type. I am thinking “no I will not take a picture with you right now..I am eating this lovely food I paid so much for!” Will work well.

also how about all the glass clinging “couple kiss” thing. I am not down for that! I have been to weddings where the couple never sat down because everyone was clinging their glasses ALL THE TIME! I think I am jist going to disappoint them and not respond.

I plan to do everything in my power to eat! I love the food we’re going to serve and I want to to enjoy it. Plus, if I don’t eat I get really hangry. A hangry bride isn’t a nice bride.

I don’t plan on having a reception at this point, but if I did I would definitely be in the same boat! If I am going to pay for all of that food I better get at least enough to keep me full! I would actually probably have someone announce to my guests to slow their rolls a little bit as there would be plenty of time later for pictures and schmoozing. Maybe that’s just me, but my blood sugar drops drastically at about four hours out from a meal, so I wouldn’t last the whole night on just a few bites of food, and I would end up ruining the night being cranky.

We’ll be mingling with guests during cocktail hour, and our venue is arranging to snag us 10-15 mins before the grand entrance.  We’ll go to the bridal suite where there will be 2 of each available appetizer waiting for us, with beverages ๐Ÿ™‚

-but you bet your @$$ I’ll still be eating dinner! ๐Ÿ™‚

@MrsWBS:  I was in the same boat! I think my dress was so tight that I wasn’t even hungry. But beyond a few bites, we didn’t even get a chance to eat our dinner, because we had to go talk to our guests. I had the same mentality – we spent so much time picking the food and lot of $ on it, I’m going to eat! But the reality is that there just isn’t enough time during the reception!

Love this topic….I never miss a meal, so I always wondered how brides could not eat at their weddings!  Well, I had a little bit dinner, and our food was amazing…but completely missed out on my own cake.  I took one bite, set it down to dance and never came back for it!  oops!

Anyway you can ask the staff to make up plates for you and Fiance, so that right after you enter, and while the guests are getting their food, you can eat? By the time you finish it is likely the guests will just be sitting down with their food so you can make the rounds then.
