I think you actually look really good in a mermaid, but I love the lace on your current dress.

Your current dress does have the effect of making you look a little square. I think your current dress would look good if you put a crinoline under it to give it more shape and flare at the bottom. This would balance the whole look and give you some more curves.

Your current dress is beautiful and I think the “other” dress is and glamorous and chic.  But, it’s SO plain and simple that I’d be terrified of getting any marks on it.  I’m imagining tromping through the woods… branches, sticks, dirt…  The lace on your current dress would help mask it if you didn’t stay pristinely clean!

@S0InL0v3:  It probably depends on the type of crinoline – some flare out from higher up than others – you need one that’s specifically for mermaids.

But maybe you don’t need one at all – you may get the effect you want just from having the dress made tighter through the hips and upper thighs.

I would also suggest altering the neckline to a sweetheart – straight across necklines don’t do many people favours, especially not those with wide shoulders. A sweetheart will draw your attention away from your shoulders and towards your bust and face. (And if the dress is showing off your hips and waist, that will draw attention away from your shoulders too – they look much narrower in the sample mermaid you tried on.)

@S0InL0v3:  yeah, the fitted styles do look fantastic on you judging by the last one. Go for it!

I prefer the dress you’re dreaming of to the one you have. you can probably resell the one you’ve already purchased!

I like your dress! I think you need a blingy belt in the middle instead if the white material it clashes

The dress you currently have looks great on you. Maybe you just want it to be a little more snug?

I love the picture of the “other” dress too… anywhere you can try it on so that you’ll know for sure? I think it would look great on you!

@S0InL0v3:  Yeah it really didn’t do too much. Normally I’d say keep the dress you have, but I really think a mermaid style looks much better on your body.

The picture you posted of the mermaid that was four sizes too big is the best dress on you buy far. I also think the neckline of that dress is great on you. I think the upward arc shows off your slimness and you look like a model in that dress. You have a figure just like my friend and she wore a mermaid and look amazing in it. It was also easy to walk in as it doesn’t have to be absolutely skin tight at the bottom.

The other dresses you posted, including yours, are all nice dresses but they are not showing your body off to it’s best advantage.

I’d try to sell your current dress and then go to a ton of bridal stores and try on mermaid styles. If you don’t fall in love with anything then order the plain one, I’d just be a little nervous to order a dress without trying it on and I think lace is just so romantic for a woodland wedding. 🙂
