A_Ray_of_Sunlight:  How much research have you done? What do other sites cost?

A_Ray_of_Sunlight:  I will be honest- I spent about that much on my album and I only have one reason- its my wedding album- I wanted it to be amazing.

I spent  $693 to be exact and this is what I got:

    – 12 x 12 album with a white leather cover, and a peek-a-boo picture on the front (its a small cut out in the middle of the cover with a picture of our choice)

-Front cover embossed with our wedding date

-Gilded pages (edge of page is gold- you have a choice of gold or silver)

    -Flush mounted photos

-For an additional $35 I got 2 parent albums in story-book style (so my album alone was $623 and with the 2 parent albums everything came to $693)

I would suggest checking out some other companies first before settling with this company. Check out Black River Imaging, Artisan State, and Shutterfly

I have included some pictures of my album. I hope you can see them

A_Ray_of_Sunlight:  I used Black River imaging – I also wanted to point out that I wanted to create my own album- I did everything. I picked out all the photos and did all the layouts.

A_Ray_of_Sunlight:  well, I would check out the other companies I gave you. I have heard great thing about all of those companies. Do your research before spending all that money, its a lot and you want to make sure you are getting what you paid for! Good luck!

A_Ray_of_Sunlight:  I feel like a total cheapskate in that I’m designing mine through Fujifilm’s website, and then having it printed and posted to me for $80. But honestly, I don’t feel it’s a high priority thing for me. I expect I’ll look through all my pics on my computer a bit but I don’t expect to look through a physical album often if at all.

If you think it’s worth $800 then go for it.

We got ours through the photographer, but I made layflat ones through Shutterly for like $60 and I would be totally happy just using that as my wedding album. $800 seems pretty crazy for an album.

I have to say– my uncle made a tribute/memorial book for the family about my mother and I’m sure it cost more like the shutterfly ones mentioned above… if I were going to do an album, I would never pay $800 for a squishy cover and gold pages when I could make a decent one myself for 1/8 of the price. But only you know what you want.

I thinks that’s a lot. I got a professional album in my package. I made two smaller albums for <$75 each on shutterfly and I thought they turned out beautifully… I think you could get the same for cheaper that way. That absolutely sucks about your photographer though!

It’s a lot, but if it’s good quality it’s worth it.  We spent around that much on our album (we had a credit that we used to make it a little cheaper) and I love it.  We don’t look at it every day or anything, but the album is just gorgeous and I know we’ll treasure it.  If having a nice album is important to you, and that cost is doable for you than go for it.

A_Ray_of_Sunlight:  If they’ve had sales and groupons, I would contact them and ask them for a discount on what I want. They just might do it.

It sounds like you’re getting photo editing for a lot of pictures in addition to the album. If it was just the album, that’d be too much, but it makes more sense when it includes the editing.
