Lol. Never heard of that one before. I like the idea of being in a prize draw, but not so much the concept you have to buy your way in…

Doesn’t BYOB for a baby shower mean Bring Your Own Baby? (SATC quote!)

Although, given the prize raffle deal… I tend to think not”.

I actually just “lol’ed” when I read this. I think it’s safe to throw out the “T” word on this one!

I love that they’re disguising the fact that they’re hinting for gifts by entering those to do bring them in a draw.  Generally people bring gifts to baby showers anyway, so it’s kind of weird they even say that.  And a little rude if you ask me.

I have heard of baby shower raffles if the guests bring a particular item (usually a pack of diapers).  It does seem a little pushy for gifts.  As far as BYOB…that seems a little strange.  There isn’t usually booze at baby showers I have been to.

@Just_Squeeze: haha, this made me laugh. Not normal to me. Though, one of the best baby showers I ever attended was hosted by my parents for one of my dad’s running buddies. They did a couples shower, potluck style with a friend as a grillmaster on our grill. There was plenty of alcohol and food to go around. Since the mom-to-be was younger than most there, but my mom geared the baby shower to best experiences as a parent at one point. Everyone told stories of being new parents with one in there from my parents about me to embarass me. If this shower is seriously BYOB, I would grab one of my Target wine cubes and a gift!

I’ve hosted showers and we’ve done the “Pack of Diapers Raffle”. Just to encourage the new mom to get as many diapers as she may need for the first few months! For every pack of diapers guest received 1 raffle ticket! Its just an “incentive” I suppose and the mom always appreciates it! =)

As for using it to get gifts in general…I too am tempted to use the T-Word!

And is BYOB for Bring your own Baby? or Bring your own Bottle?
