So my boss emailed me a few weeks ago and said that her and the other customer service agents wanted to take my out for a little pre-wedding get together. Now, I have only been at my job for about 8-9 mos, so I was totally not expecting something like that. Anyway, we went out and had a drink (or two!) last night, and just when our fun little happy hour was winding down, she hands me an envelope and says “This is from all of us. We are all so happy for you”. Inside was…. a ridiculously NICE Target gift card. As in, I was hoping to get that much from ALL of my wedding guests combined! I was just so shocked and speechless. But now I have a small dilemma….
I want to say “thank you” somehow, but I don’t think just a card will do it for this one. What do you think ladies? Bake some treats? Little “thank you” goodie bags? What to do?

Aw, I’m sure little thank you goodie bags would be appreciated! That was so sweet!

The thing about thank you cards is they are so small but they mean so much!
If you wrote a personal thank you note to everyone who was involved in the nice gesture I think it would be very well recieved – if you bake them some cookies with the thank you card I think it would be a very very nice gesture!
I think sometimes when we receive gifts we always think about how we can give back but the reason they are giving the gift in the first place is because THEY WANT TOO!!!!! So anything you do will be over the top for them!
You obviously have a great place to work and are surrounded by great people – Im jealous!

Okay little update… the mail girl just came up to my desk with a little package for me.. inside was a nice card with some $$ from the customer service people in our other lab! I’ve never actually met these people in person, but I talk to all of them on a daily/regular basis. I’m just so overwhelmed! I’m not used to people being this nice to me. 🙂

Aww! I would definitely hand write nice thank you cards, and then during the holidays send a nice gift basket over to the people in the other department and maybe bring in some great goodies for your own people! That is so sweet though!

Aw, how sweet! You are so lucky to have such nice co-workers!! I think personal, handwritten thank you cards and a bag of goodies is a great idea.

Aww that’s so sweet. Thank you cards are a must, but a little something extra wouldn’t hurt either. Everyone appreciates food so you can definitely bake a variety of yummy goodies for them or even bring in breakfast on a Friday 🙂

I think that personal thank you cards would be really appreciated. People don’t give gifts for the kickback. I much prefer to think that the person I gave a gift to actually liked the gift (isn’t that a worry a lot of the time). If you let them all know how perfect the gift-cards were and how you’re so excited to get spending on all the stuff you love, and how much it touched you that they thought to do this for you, I think they’ll be delighted.

that’s so wonderful! I definitely think that a thank you card, and maybe some baking would be nice, but not necessary!
