Is there any way you could pick up extra hours at your job (not sure what you do…)?  My budget is also under 10k, so I know how much a difference 2k can make, but maybe there is a way to either make up the money or redistribute the budget somehow.  The one thing I found is if you choose a venue which already looks great, you can save a lot of decorating money.  If you use the new venue, could you save some money that way?

Venue is a big thing.  I say if you really love the other place, do whatever you can to make it happen!

Oo tough call! but if you love it, its available and you don’t mind losing the deposit at the othe place…I think you should go for it! What does your Fiance think about this? Also, do you think you could negoitate the price with the new venue?

hmm… since you can get your deposit back until 30 days out, I say put the deposit down on the new place to hold the date without canceling the old place yet.  Then take some time to see if all the details will work out before you make your final decision on who to go with and who to cancel on…

Are there other areas you could cut back on to make up the difference? Maybe do a simpler menu or hire a cheaper photographer or skip something that’s less important to you? Venue makes a big difference and if you love it this much and can somehow make it work, I say go for it. For us, we decided to splurge on our photographer, so I know I have to make budget cuts in a couple of other areas that didn’t feel as important to us. Good luck!

I think you should go with the venue you feel most confident about.  Especially because you are having an intimate wedding.

Can you talk to the restaurant and see if there is anything that can be done to cut costs (explaining to them (gushing, really) how much you love their establishment).  Maybe they have some ideas you haven’t thought of.
