Well, it has been all of 23 hours since my fella proposed and I have ring pics that I want to share with everyone who will look.
My fiance propsed with an heirloom ring. It was his great-great grandmother’s wedding ring and was made in 1885. I am terrified that I am going to damage it. It has an amethyst center stone and 2 diamonds on the top and bottom.

Wow, how thoughtful and unique! What are you thinking of doing as far as a wedding band to go with it?

Thanks all!
@Lillindy – Good question. I think it would be rather difficult to find a band that would work with the e-ring. The current plan is to use a different heirloom ring from my family as the wedding band and this ring will swap hands. Luckily for us we have an abundance of family rings. 🙂

How beautiful and unusual! I love the ring.
I’m wearing an heirloom diamond, too. One that belonged to my husband’s grandmother. I am constantly looking at it throughout the day. In part because I’m in love with it and in part because I’m utterly paranoid and want to make sure it’s still there.
Congratulations!!

Today was my first full day wearing my ring and I kept checking if it was okay. I was folding laundry and it nearly flew off my hand.
I put it back in the box ASAP. I can’t wait to see if it can be resized so I won’t have to worry.

OMFG AWESOME RING SO COOL.
I just *LOVE* your ring. IMy new e-ring (long story) is a reproduction of an antique ring from around the same time as yours. I love interesting, one-of-a-kind rings! I am so happy that you love and treasure your family heirloom. Did your fella have it checked out with a jeweler to make sure all the prongs were good and the stone solidly still set in it and everything? If not, maybe consider doing so and it might alleviate some of your worries about damaging it! But I wouldn’t worry too much…it’s made it this long!
Oh and, congratulations!!!

@VeganGlam The prong were tighten up about 10 years ago and it has been sitting in a box since then. The Fiance and I are looking for a good local jeweler who can check it out.
Somehow the ring is fitting better today, which is great because I can show it off on my ring finger today at work!
