I found my dress at David’s Bridal. It happened to be the first one I tried on and I loved it. However, they only had the floor model because it was discontinued. The sales associate supposedly looked to see if another store had it and said they didn’t and that I couldn’t get it online. So I bought the floor model because she made it seem like if I left the store I wouldn’t get the dres. It’s a size 4 and I need a size 2. I was putting together an inspiration board and went looking for a similar dress on David’s Bridal.com when I found my dress…and in a size 2! It’s been over a month, but I fully intend to call them tomorrow.

This is my dress. I just love it, but I hate that I have to get it altered when I probably wouldn’t have if she had just told me that she had my size online.
Has anyone else experienced this from david’s bridal?

@paigers91:
That’s too bad that David’s Bridal pulled that with you. I would report it to the owner of David’s Bridal or write or call the headquarters and tell them what happened. You will most likely be reimbursed for the alterations that you will need to have done to your wedding dress. The sales associate probably works off of commission and wanted to make money off of you. I don’t know. I hope it all turns out for you!

I am definitely calling them tomorrow. I hate that don’t open until noon tomorrow. The sales lady wasn’t even that great. She suggested dresses that I didn’t even describe as ones that I liked. The only reason I found that dress is because my mom and I found it.
I hope they at least give me the alterations.

I don’t even want to buy the bridesmaids dresses through them and I am making that very clear to the manager who to the person at headquarters that I talk to tomorrow. I’ll let you all know how it works out but at this point I would never recommend them to anyone!

It can’t hurt to call if you’re dissatisifed. However, this may not be the complete fault of your consultant. I used to work for DB until I moved and I can tell you the online stock changes all the time. One day a dress is there, the next day it’s gone and three days later it’s back–it just depends on what’s in stock. The online outlet with the discontinued items has gowns from three years ago that just reappeared a few months ago because they found stock in a wearhouse somewhere.

I understand your frustraiton, but I think it’s pretty unlikely your dress wouldn’t need alterations even if you got the 2. I have personally never met a bride or bridesmaid who didn’t need her dress altered.

@Mrs.Darling: That does make me feel a little bit better. My issue with the sales associate started long before I found my dress online. When david’s bridal sent me the survey they send out to fill out online I filled it out and it asked specific questions and realized how much she didn’t do. Even before that though, I felt rushed through trying on dresses and like I didn’t get the real experience. I was just glad that I happened to find my dress in the midst of all that. I even doubted my dress until I tried it on again with shoes and the corset bra and held the back of it tight!
@mrsSonthebeach: I understand that as well, however other dresses I tried on in a 2 fit me perfectly and the only thing that needs to be changed about the size 4 is that the bodice needs to be brought in a little bit.

i think inventory changes all the time. did you find it online immediately after buying the floor model? maybe you can call them and ask about exchanging for the size you need.

Aw, that really sucks! I would call and explain to them what happened and ask them if they could order you the right size!

@profiterole: No, unfortunately its 45 days after I bought it.
One thing that frustrates me is that the associate was supposed to have been searching online and in other stores. Then she made it seem like that was the only one left anywhere near our city.

That really stinks! Try not to let one associate’s mess-up taint your vision of the chain! I went to DB in my town for first time dress shopping and had a wonderful experience!
