That’s awful! Please contact the doc ASAP! Also please get second opinions! Eeks!
@ChuckNorris: I think they need to remove the right lump. This was a surgical mistake. They’re common. They should fix it.
Request your medical records and see if there is a way that you can ascertain what they were supposed to do. My guess is that they are covering up because now they can charge you twice. I worked for a vet once that kind of did that, botched a declaw and when the owners came back complaining about the bump, diagnosed a tumor and charged them to do a second surgery. Sketchy…
You probably want to consult with a lawyer. You know your body better than any doctor.
PS – if you are in the US, your doctor can NOT say something like, “I thought you would have wanted…”. If you are under or incapacitated and unable to make a decision during surgery, unless it is a life-threatening issue they need to get you up and ASK YOU ABOUT IT before they do it. Seriously. They don’t decide for you. You decide.
Just checking in and sending good thoughts your way
I really appreciate everyone’s advice, love, and support. It has really helped me in healing emotionally from this. I was horridly hormonal when I posted this, and am feeling much better thanks to you guys with your words of advice!
Unfortunately, my husband and I disagree on the subject. I think you guys are right…I think I definitely have a case and would benefit from a lawyer’s opinion on this. My husband on the other hand…thinks I am overreacting and making it into a bigger deal than it is. I don’t think I could enter in a legal battle without his support. So I think my only real option is to make an appointment with a new doctor… =/ UGH!
Chuck, I tend to try to avoid legal battles in medicine, but at the very least, he should be performing the second procedure for free. unless you are leaving some huge detail out of the story!
that’s the only downside of going to a different doc. . .you are going to have to pay twice.
whereas, I’m pretty sure you could convince this guy to do the second one free.
and, btw, I actually would much rather have an ENT remove my lymph node, than a derm. i know the first time around, it went badly but what are the chances he’ll screw up again?!
anyway, crappy situation. sorry to hear it. 🙁
You poor thing! I am so sorry this happened to you!! He needs to make it right! I would leave a message for him to personally call you back so you can discuss this with him instead of going through the MA. (((hugs)))
What the hell?! I would be talking to a lawyer and never seeing him again. He’s either incompetent or an arrogant asshole, and neither is someone I want removing anything from my body.
