- Wedding: August 2010
I’ve been a foodie forever. My friends laugh at me for all the trouble I go through to make one of my home parties great. So going out and hiring someone to to the same for my wedding was not an easy task. HOWEVER! I am done. I am so done with this major aspect of my long wedding punch list.
Let me begin with saying. I refuse to go to a cookie cutter all inclusive venue. I want what I want and thats it. Oh and did I mention I have a budget. I met with eight off premise caterers. I will list them all for you. But I truly believe that this was a right of passage for me. Because I now think that I’m in the wrong profession and I should be a caterer with all that I’ve learned.
Here they are: Merri makers – too expensive and so so food.
Encore caterer – These women were all just crazy. I never saw any food it was all about the numbers.
Catering by maria – good food but not impressed with how she would take care of me.
Ome – The food was good but very cookie cutterish?
New world – Not impressed with anything particular. I think the Chef was hitting on me though…
Frungilo – Again! not a good feeling that I would be taken care of.
David Ellis – Very impressive operation. good food too. Pricey and out of my range
The fruited plain – they satisfied all my expectations of what a caterer should be . yes they are my caterer.
This info is ofcourse only my take so go to them yourself. They all had some good qualities but one had to be picked so I will tell you what got me to choose them.
Besides good food & price. I felt that although its a smaller company The fruited plain was more personnalized and really wanted to make my party great. Just like I could do it. The best thing was, Drew said to me that he will be at my wedding. Not one of the other OWNERS of the caterers I went to said that to me.
