@blondebride2012: How annoying! I would just roll with it, and be civil to her for the kids sake. As anoying as it is I’m sure, I have never understood why people get mixed up with people like her in the first place.

I hope it all works out, and don’t worry-you will get your wedding.

I have been exactly where you are at, so I can totally understand where you are coming from. We had to postpone twice because of the ex and the court BS feels like it will never end. If you ever want to chat with someone who has been in the same spot with a F’ed up ex who just wants to cause issues, just PM me.

im sorry you are frustrated but making wedding bookings to a person that isnt legally divorced sounds like a bad idea even if she is a bitch – well especially if she is a bitch because i would expect trouble (not saying she is a bitch, i dont know the person)

i hope it works out the best for the children

Ditto with @eloping: delay making future plans until he is divorced.

Maybe I’m dense, but if the trial (which isn’t even a sure thing) is in May, then why would you have to cancel your wedding? You’d have a whole month in between…

Also, even if things weren’t finalized by June, couldn’t you guys just do everything except sign the marriage license? You could still have the wedding and reception and no one would even have to know.

my first thought was if i was a disgruntled not legally the ex wife yet i would be causing drama if my husband decided it was ok to go thru with a fake wedding – i have visions of cops coming in to check the paperwork

maybe a month isnt enough time for the divorce to be legal, i know in some countries there needs to be a set time period between the divorce and a 2nd/3rd/whatever wedding

@LeftHanded: the first trial doesn’t mean it’s final if they don’t come to agreement. A lot of times you can also ask for continuance like 3 or 4 times in some states. this could drag out for a year or two more

I have to ditto @eloping and @julies1949. I think you are smart to postpone to the following summer.

You don’t know how long this process will take. I’m sure you also want to make sure the kids are doing OK with all of the changes, and feel secure with their new family situations.

As disappointing as this all is, wedding planning is stressful enough without having a 3rd party in the mix.
