Ok, first of all – relax. Wedding planning can get stressful and personally I think finding the venue is the most important and stressful decision to make – it is after all where you are having your wedding. The second more important decision, in my opinion, is your photographer, bc that is how you will capture all the memories.

That being said, I wouldn’t go with a venue that doesn’t respond to email (are you giving them sufficient time to respond) or that you aren’t 100% comfortable with. I’m sure you can keep looking and find something that works and has good customer service – have you checked reviews of venues online?

I don’t necessarily disagree w/ the lady though about the food. You should pick things that your guests will want to eat. I’m not sure what kind of food you were picking that made her say that, but I would never say that my guests will eat what I feed them – my guests are #1 to me. I’m hosting them. They’re coming to celebrate and witness my love and commitment. They’re my bestest friends and family members. Why would I do whatever I want without consideration for what they will enjoy? That’s just my opinion.

I can’t fault her on the catering advice. You don’t have to get plain old wedding food, but it’s important to take into account your guests and what they like. I’m not saying to make it all about them, but just consider them enough so that the food you get won’t go to waste. Believe it or not, guests won’t eat much food if they find it unappetizing, and that can have an affect on the atmosphere at your wedding. If you think they won’t have a problem with the food you want, go ahead and get it.

It may be helpful to provide the Bees with an estimate of what you’re willing to pay for a venue and photographer. That will make it easier for them to help you find what you’re looking for.

I would maybe try to local board section for more specific help with Atlanta. I do echo PPs and say that you should consider food that people will eat. We tried to pick a good compromise between what we like and what would be a safe bet for guests since I know we are more adventerous in our food choices than most of our family. This is my opinion but I would not want to spend so much money and see a bunch of food go to waste because people don’t like it.

If you can give a budget and number of guests, that would help people make more useful suggestions 🙂

What food were you planning on serving?

@JJSoon2bwife14:  Ah, well, your menu sounds delicious, so I doubt your guests will have any problem enjoying that.

I took a look at Defy Photography, and I think you’re right. They’re good… They’re not my cup of tea, though. I’ve seen better for that price.

If the Villa would take care of that much of the wedding for you, then it may be a good venue. I’ll look at reviews. I’m curious about what they do and how well they do it.

I’ll look around and see if I can find anything that will help you. What style of photography are you looking for, by the way?

@JJSoon2bwife14:  You’re welcome.

I looked at reviews as well, and while there were a few negatives, one of which you’ve already experienced, the Villa still seemed like a good choice. The price seems reasonable too.

I looked at Chris Brock Photography. I like his work a lot more. Those were great photos. I’ll keep looking to see if there’s anyone else you might like.

@JJSoon2bwife14:  I just watched some of the videos in his movie gallery. They are really good! I love the quality and the style. The videos are high quality and polished, but not so artsy-fartsy that the bride and groom and their day get lost.

By the way, I know I’m basically just agreeing with most of what you’ve said so far lol, but I hope I’m still giving you some good feedback. I like your choices so far. It seems like your on your way to a beautiful wedding.
