my brother cannot be at my wedding. He is in the Navy and has to be “underway” for like a hundred years and so cannot be there. I am so pissed at the stupid Navy, at my brother for joining, at my parents for letting him, and at the world in general for making is so that his job requires him to be away at this important time in my life.

@peachacid: 🙁 Sorry to hear that!

I am so sorry, I am mad at the NAVY too for you that they wouldnt let him come home. He does such amazing things for other people he doesnt even know (like me) and while I can tell you he is appreciated for all that he does nothing will ever make up for the fact that to do that he has to be away from you at such an important time.
My heart is breaking for you – and we are here for you so VENT away!!

Oh no!!! I can’t even imagine how sad that would make me 🙁 One of my best friends, and the reason Fiance and I met, is unable to attend our wedding because of the Army, and I’m upset enough about that! *hugs*

Like the world will end if these people have one fucking day off.

@peachacid: Booo that sucks. Hopefully he likes his career in general, though. Not my cup of tea.. I don’t know how people can do it!

My aunt and uncle couldn’t make my parent’s wedding for the same reason!
They were both in the navy, stationed on the same ship!
They went out and had a great time the next time they got shore leave.

@peachacid: Oh no. 🙁 That IS sad. I would be upset, too. I’m so sorry that he cannot be there for you — and with you — on this incredibly important day in your life. I’m sure he and your parents are quite sad about it, too.
Maybe he could write a letter (probably an e-mail at this point, given that your wedding is next week) to you and your Darling Husband to express his love and greetings and have one of your parents read it at the reception so that he could still somehow have a presence that day?

i am so sorry 🙁 my brother is the greatest thing to me and so i would be so hurt and angry and disappointed if he couldn’t come to my wedding.
hang in there. i’m sorry!

I’m so sorry :(. Could you try to Skype with him, either in the morning while you’re getting ready or that night for a short chat at the reception, so that he could still “see” you on your big day?

It is something that is not a surprise. It just sucks. Also because there was a CHANCE…but then it disappeared.

I understand, My fiance was a Marine for 4 years of our relationship and he missed out on so many things…but now he is out! Anyway, you just have to keep in mind that he is out there protecting your right to have this beautful wedding. He may not be able to make it, but you know that he will be thinking of you. Those men and women sacrifice so much for others it’s best not to get upset…only makes them feel worse and unappreciated. You’ll see him soon and you can show him all the lovely pictures you’ll have 🙂

TO @peachacid: ah hon, that is sad news (((( BIG HUGS )))) to you
Agree with Brielle: , lol in the “olden days” (aka my first Wedding)… it was very very common for someone at the Reception to read out the Telegrams, Faxes, Cards etc from those who couldn`t make it
A very sweet gesture for sure
Heck nowadays technology is a great thing, even for the guys & gals in service. I bet you could record / televise your Wedding for him… or he could Skype you at some point etc.
t have to be totally absent Id imagine.
I`d be off exploring options.

@This Time Round: He is on a submarine, so I doubt he will be able to communicate. He can only surface like once or twice during the entire six month stint.
Who the hell is he fighting, German U-boats? Is this WW2 and I didn’t know?
