I am beyond excited bees!
I purchased the Cascading Goddess Gown by Catherine Deane for BHLD about a week ago, and it arrived at my house yesterday!
Some backstory about my dress hunt: I made a trip to David’s Bridal over the summer, pretty much knowing I wasn’t going to buy a dress there, but I wanted to try on some gowns similar to the BHLDN gown to see how I liked the silhouette. I loved A-lines and was relieved to find out the silhouette looks great on me!
Before I decided to buy the BHLDN gown, I looked for around for cheaper options. I couldn’t justify spending so much money on a dress I was going to wear only once, so I tried my hardest to find a less expensive alternative. Nothing compared. I even looked into buying the BHLDN gown used. Every time I would find a listing on eBay or preowned dress sites, it would sell for close to retail price in a very short amount of time.
After talking to Fiance about the BHLDN gown, we decided I should go for it. It’s my dream dress! And I realistically shouldn’t have issues selling it after the big day for at least half of what I paid. I have a feeling BHLDN won’t be carrying the dress for much longer as it has been marked down, so this could help drive up the demand for the dress, even used.
So then came the dilemma of ordering the gown. I looked at the BHLDN fit guide. According to the guide, I was a size 4. I read reviews of the dress. A lot of ladies said it ran big. But I knew it would be easier to take the dress in if it were too big rather than let it out if it were too small. So, I decided I would order the 4.
I first logged on to BHLDN.com to purchase the gown before Christmas. Went to click on size 4 to add it to my cart- sold out. WHAT?!? I attributed it to the recent markdown in price of the dress. The website said it would be back in stock on 1/2/14. So, I waited. The 2nd rolled around and I logged on the website. Size 4 still SOLD OUT! I immediately called BHLDN customer service to see if they would get any size 4s back in stock. They had no idea. So I thought about the size 2 since reviews said the dress runs big. The customer service rep said they had only ONE left in stock. I panicked! What if this is it? What if they don’t get anymore in stock?
So, I bought the 2. I told myself that if it was too small I could always return it and get the 4 when if it comes back in stock.
Well, my gown came yesterday. I had been waiting by the window all day for the UPS truck to arrive. So when it finally came, I busted it out of the packaging and tried it on IMMEDIATELY.
Guess what? It fits like a glove! A little wiggle room in the bust, but holy geez it’s like it was made for me! I was so relieved!
It is everything I wanted in a dress, bees. Flowy, ethereal, non-blingy, A-line, straps, chiffon. Ugh, I’m in heaven!
