This weekend my sister came to town and we went to dress shopping. She thought it was the first time that I had gone but it wasn’t. I went by myself a few weeks ago and had two dresses at the top of my list. I wanted to see what she thought about them without me leading her to them. Well, the first store we went to carried Modern Trousseau and the Nila gown was just breathtaking. But it was also $3700. So on to the next store we went. This store is the one that carried the dress at the top of my list. I had to make it seem like I hadn’t tried anything on before so we pulled a few dresses and I browsed through the clearance rack. I couldn’t believe it! There was an Allure gown that was almost identical to the Modern Trousseau gown I had just fallen in love with! The pattern of the lace was a little different but it was Venise lace just like the MT one. And it was 50% off! And then I put it on and it was a perfect fit!! Every other dress I had tried on was just “okay” or “well, it’s pretty but I’m not feeling anything” but this one just felt so elegant and perfect. I had her hold it for me overnight and we went back yesterday to buy it. It’s the exact style I wanted, but the Venise lace really takes it from being on the verge of rustic (which I wanted to avoid) to being such an elegant dress. And it was $999!! I just can’t get over it. (I’m doing wedding weight watchers- 7lbs down- and plan to lose about 25 more before I have it altered so ignore my chubbiness).
It doesn’t normally have a sash and this was the only plain one they had (anything with sparkles is WAY too much which this dress) so I’m going to have to order a plain sash without the pleats.

Sorry for this awful blurry photo- just wanted to show the illusion back. The lady helping me wasn’t a great photographer. 🙂

Ooh! Dress twins! I was wondering if anyone else on here had this dress. I just bought mine last weekend and I’m so in love with it. The woman who was helping me put a sparkly sash on it, but I’m not sure if I like that look or not. I still have to decide what kind of sash I want to go with. Here’s my super blurry picture. It’s a couple sizes too big, so I need to get it altered, but I got a good deal on mine too.

burnabrenna: Oh my gosh! I searched and searched and couldn’t find any other pictures of it besides the one from the Allure website! How crazy! I’m going to have the shoulders on mine shortened so it’s more of a boatneck than a scoop neck. That’s why she’s clipped mine that way. It’s such a unique gorgeous dress! I wanted a lace veil but I think it might be too much with this dress so I might just go with one with a tiny satin trim. These two pictures of the MT sold me…

MouthOfTheSouth: Ugh, I know! I would love to see more pictures of it on real people…it looks completely different in the Allure model picture than it does in real life. I love the way yours fits on your shoulders, hopefully I can get mine altered to sit better on mine.

Future_MrsE: the style number – Allure C249 😉 I believe it will be discontinued soon.
MouthOfTheSouth: burnabrenna: looking gorgeous! I have now ordered this dress (after much thought as I had already purchased a different dress- I have a post with pics on here of both dresses). Have you ladies thought about hairstyles/ hair accessories for the dress? I agree that a sparkly sash is too much for the dress.
