I bought my dress! I couldn’t wait to share with all of you!! It was the first time I ever went dress shopping, and it was the second dress I tried on! It was a fairly good experience. It was almost perfect in my book! I took my mother, two younger sisters, grandmother, and Future Mother-In-Law. Aside from little comments I could do without, and calling me by the WRONG NAME (mind you I have been with her son for over 5 years… at least it wasn’t one of his exs names!) my Future Mother-In-Law did do way better holding her tongue than I thought she would. I was also pleasantly surprised that everyone seemed to agree, and have the same opinion on every dress.
The ultimate decision was between the first two dress I tried on. I ended up chosing dress #2 for a number of reasons; I felt if you cut off the bottom of #1 it looked like any other dress (which I am planning on purchasing a shorter white dress with the same cut, and adding a crystal belt for my rehersal dinner… best of both worlds!), it didn’t have anything I had dreamed about, I didn’t like it on me looking down at it, and the list goes on. I chose #2 because it is romantic, I can see my FH crying when he sees me in it, and it is just absolutely gorgeous!
Dress #1 was Allure 8802… When I walked out in that dress I felt beautiful and elegant. I almost didn’t pick the first one off the rack, as it had nothing I wanted, it was very plain. I wasn’t expecting to feel that way because looking down at myself in the dressing room I felt like I had a tent on.
It had pockets, the most goregous crystal beading underneath the bust, there was buttons with every third one a crystal down the back, and a sweetheart neck line! I really loved this dress!
Dress #2 was Allure C152 Couture… First off, let me start by saying pictures don’t even do this dress a justice!! It is so much more beautiful in person! When I walked out in this dress I felt pretty and romantic. It truely is a dream dress for me. Looking down at this dress in the dressing room I felt really good. The bodice makes my stomach completely flat (which is a plus!!)
It has sparkles throughout, buttons down the back (but not all the way, which they said I could add if I wanted), it has satin ribbon detailing which makes it look like lace with a little ruffle, and I love how it’s a ball gown but not too puffy. The only thing I absolutely am going to change is the neckline. I really like how the other dress had a sweetheart neckline; I feel like it flatters my chest area. So I am going to have that become a sweetheart neckline!
For veils I chose both a cathedral length, and a two tier fingertip length. They are very simple and plain with beading along the edge all the way around. I liked the layered look with the simple veils. I wanted them to be fairly simple as my dress is busy looking in comparison. I don’t really like the look of just a fingertip length, at least on me. I have always dreamed of a long cathedral length veil so I had to get it. It just looked a little too plain by itself.
** I will admit I had a little dress regret a couple days after purchasing. I didn’t think the dress was flattering on me in the pictures like everyone said it was in the store. I also was disappointed with how the dress actually look in pictures. You absolutely can’t tell of the beauty by looking at them. My mother reassured me with professional photography the dress’ beauty will come through! Now I have no clue why I was so worried!!
ANYONE ELSE AN ALLURE BRIDE, OR BETTER YET MY DRESS TWIN?! (I would love to see pictures of your allure dresses, and hear your story of how you chose!)
