Unfortunately, I’m not Martha () but I’ll try my best to help you. I, too, plan to buy my Bridesmaid or Best Man gowns and offer that as a gift. But, I also plan to buy them something extra like a pair of earrings or a necklace. If you still have room within your budget, you can find affordable and good quality jewelry from etsy.com. Other ideas are an album of you and each girl, comfort slippers for the reception, and a small purse. I think they will like whatever you decide to buy for them.

I am, as I don’t consider the dress I bought for them a gift, but more of a necessity as they would have had to have bought it themselves.

I’d probably buy them something small and not wedding related to go with the dress. While I’m sure they are thrilled to get the dresses the point of the gift is to thank them for being there for you on your special day. They will likely not all want to wear the dress again (despite how nice they are – they likely do not suit everyone’s taste in style/color) so it would be nice to give them a little something which they will keep and use again.

If it’s over budget to get them another gift don’t worry about it…. but I’m sure you can find a nice little gift like FutureMrs.B suggested for them for cheap!

My bridesmaids are coming to the Bahamas for my wedding, so I purchased all their dresses, made all their jewelry, and I’m paying for a spa day (mani/pedi, and hairstyle) on the day of the wedding.

I also got each of them a beach bag and filled it with a towel dress beach coverup, cute sunglasses, flip flops that match their dresses, a small picture frame, a travel makeup bag and a waterproof mascara.

i am paying for the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and i’m not getting them anything else as "gifts".  frankly, I find that most bridesmaids would prefer to get the dress paid for over a tote bag full of cute but useless items.

p.s. i’m also paying for hair + makeup on the day of the wedding.

This is probably weird logic, but I didn’t buy my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses because I wanted to get them a separate gift to thank them for all of their help and support. We don’t have the budget to buy them the dress AND a nice gift, so I decided that they would buy their own dresses (kind of going with the logic that they would expect to pay for them when they accepted Bridesmaid or Best Man duties) and that I would get them something that was around the same cost as the dress that was personal and that they would appreciate away from the wedding. (Sorry for the run on sentence!)

I guess I don’t think of something that I am requiring them to have for the wedding (dress, shoes, etc.) as qualifying as a gift. Maaaybe jewelry. But even if they can/will wear them again, it just seems kind of like an anti-gift… so they buy the dress out of duty, but I give them a heartfelt thank you gift that is not really wedding-related.

That said, since you’ve already bought the dresses (and may not have the budget for a second big gift), I would just get or make them something small that has meaning for you and them.

i agree with mtyf. if you’re a bm, buying the dress pretty much comes with the territory (most brides still have their bms pay for their dresses). so i think a small, heartfelt gift (maybe something even homemade, like a scrapbook?) would be appropriate.

if budget is a serious issue, then the dresses you bought for them is sufficient. But I would write them each a heartfelt card.

My girls are buying their own dresses — but I’ve been buying little trinkets here and there for each of them as well on Etsy and I’m going to have a luncheon/spa day to thank them.
