so we finally decided how we want to celebrate our wedding/marriage…YAY
We plan on having a big ol party with friends and familiy from all over the world but the ceremony itself just for us two. We don’t know the date we want to get married yet, since we want it to be spontaneous and just me and him, with a nice dinner and a little cake afterwards and just someone taking pictures after the ceremony. But we have/had a date set for our marriage party, the 08/03/2012. We’ve been all exited and started planning, booked a photographer and had a venue in mind. I talked to a friend who will perform a little sentimental ceremony for us and our guest and everything was fine. I started looking for dresses for both events etc…
Then all of a sudden the photographer bailed out on us and said it took her too long to get the contract mailed from overseas (we are in the process of going back stateside after being stationed in Europe), so she took another couple already…and I even told her before that I can scan and mail it after signing, but she didn’t want that! But said the date is set and we don’t need to worry! The venue we wanted was all of a sudden open again…we’ve been so happy booked and paid, couple days later we got a mail saying they double booked and sent us the money back…
So we are sitting here, with nothing and I don’t know what to do!? This is BS…

I’m sorry all that stuff is happening! Maybe it will easier to figure stuff out once you get back in the states.

That is sketchy. If it was just one vendor backing out, I’d say, “That sucks, flaky vendor, better to know now.”
Something isn’t sitting right to me about both the venue and the photographer backing out with a contract for the photog and a DEPOSIT for the venue.
Total long shot and I expect the answer is no, but is there any chance someone stateside (family member that is ticked about the ceremony or something) called the vendors and told them “The wedding date isn’t even set, you should cancel,” trying to force you to change your plans? Like I said, really off the wall and would be CRAZY if that happened, but it really is odd that you had contracts and a deposit and both of them pulled out…

That is completely crazy …. really what are the odds of that happening with TWO vendors? I’m really sorry. That is so stressful.
Do you have anyone in the states you would feel comfortable asking to help you with vendors, until you are back in the states? It would be alot to ask of someone but it may help things go smoother?
When do you come back to states? Is it soon or right before the party?

@NAvery: Yeah I know right, we’ve been talking to his dad about it and he said he’s going to help us now. And he said that lots of people are about the money so the other couple was just right there and everything went faster with the photographer. She probably thought we bailed out on her and wanted to be on the safe side. I don’t know, maybe I make excuses!? He talked to the venue and they are really sorry and said it was their fault. And they gave the deposit back without problems, so I’m happy about that! But I think about just waiting till we’re back stateside. We’ve not set a date for the wedding itself yet but for the big marriage party, so I figured we could book everything already, just like others do, when they have a Destination Wedding but oh well I guess not! Maybe it’s just different since we have to book all vendors separatly and most of them are not used to couples like us. We’re going be back round about april if everything goes as planned.
