I was a little worried about dress shopping, since I am extremely picky about what I wear and the style of clothing I like. In my mind, I wanted: lace, a-line, straps, and sweetheart neckline. I ended up with something that I had thought I’d HATE: sweetheart, ballgown, silk, ivory, and beaded.
It was the first dress I tried on, and while I tried on several at my appointment, I kept thinking about how I felt in the first one. My mother and sister were with me, and my mom smiled when she saw me in it. Near the end of the appointment, I asked the girl if I could retry on the first gown, and she happily obliged. I walked out again (I did this mostly to see my Mom’s reaction and to make sure she liked it), and this time she gasped and said it was perfect. She didn’t realize until I told her that it was the first one. I fell in love with it; now we just have to order it in my size and have it shipped! (It is bunching a little near the hip since it’s a size or two small, but once we get the one that fits me it’ll be smooth!)
I seriously did not expect to find ‘the dress’ my first time shopping for one, but I’m relieved because it’s one less thing I have to stress out about!
Sorry about the odd coloring, it’s a really beautiful ivory color but the lighting was a little weird and my Mom’s flash was horrible!

yay! You are so lucky I have been looking over a year with no luck.

Congrats! You’re dress is lovely. 🙂
My hunt was similarly easy. I wasn’t looking forward to it either (not a big fan of shopping and trying on clothes, and definitely not a big fan of spending a lot of money). My mom was here for her annual visit (last one before the wedding) and I literally put it off until the day before she left. lol I was wishing I’d gone for a drink beforehand.
Anyhow, it was not nearly as bad as I imagined. Narrowed it down to 4 choices, came home, looked at the pics my Maid/Matron of Honor emailed me, and decided that evening. Less than 2 hours, tried on maybe 8 dresses, and found 4 I loved. So glad to have that done and behind me, as no doubt you are. 🙂
(Funny, we came home from shopping and for the first time ever, watched a few episodes of Say Yes to the Dress while celebrating with wine. That’s about when both my mom and I realized how good we had it with our dress shopping experience.LOL)

It’s gorgeous! My dress hunt was easy too, which caught me by surprise. It took a weekend, and that was it.

I’m debating on changing the color of the corset lace. Maybe a pink (to match bridesmaids/FH) or a light blue (something blue). I would just have to see how it looked!

@psyche: I think that would look so cool! What shade of pink are you thinking?

@psyche: What an excellent idea!

@mayahpay: Blush/cherry blossom pink. FI’s tie will be that color, and the BM/GM will be in a deeper shade of pink.
