So sorry to hear that! We’ve been through exactly the same thing! Our lab tore her ACL, had the surgery, and then less than a year later tore it in the *other* leg and had to have surgery again. Our vet told us from the get go that there was a 50% change that she would tear it in the other leg…and sure enough she did!

Revovery was not that bad either time. The hardest part was keeping her settled and not hopping around.

@SophieB3:  omgsh I’m so glad it was something fixable! I know it’s hard to look at it that way but that’s always the first thing I think when something goes wrong with animals. I’m sorry for this added stress and I hope puppy heals really fast!

Oh no, poor boy! Glad he made it through the surgery ok, and he will have the best of care while you are away.

Good luck for your wedding!

@SophieB3:  Ohhhh poor baby!  I am so glad you guys were able to afford it without it overly stressing you with the wedding (financially, since it’s obviously going to be emotionally stressful regardless).

We are taking our dog with us for our wedding (and driving 16 hours to do so!) so I can’t imagine having something like this happen right before it.

Hope he heals quickly!

I have two dogs who I also love like children and this would be tough for me.  I am so glad your dog is OK.

My dog had to get a surgery to have part of her ear removed.  there was this blood blister/hematoma on the corner of her ear that wouldn’t heal.  they thought it might be a cancerous tumor or something else at first.  I did not expect to be “that parent”, but when they told me I had to leave her overnight, i broke down crying.  I did not want to leave her alone, even for a night.

But I did it.  She was great and you know what else?  The vets got to know her WELL.  I feel comfortable leaving her there and boarding her, which we now do quite often.

I hope your pup is still doing well!  he looks like a sweetie.
