Where at in SoCal?  There are options depending where/how far you’re willing to go?

Hmm. I wonder if you can find a private residence (vrbo) that would be willing for a larger security deposit. 200 is tough for outdoors. Or maybe a national park and bring in light catering? I almost did mine in Pfeiffer Big Sur. Check the parks system as I’m sure there are a couple with a hall/cooking facilities for a caterer…

That’s going to be pretty tough. I’m not from the area, but I know SoCal weddings can be pretty darn pricey. If 10k is your budget for the whole thing, then subtract a couple thousand for the photog, dress, flowers, invites, DJ, etc (and that’s if you go super cheap with those things)…you’re left with like $40-$53 per guest. That isn’t much to cover the venue, food, and drinks, in CA. Not to be a downer, but have you considered making cuts to your guest list?

I think the Alumni house at CSUF is pretty affordable and you can choose outdoors. Here’s a pic of a wedding there. It’s a spanish style venue.

Also, my venue, The Wilson_harding Clubhouse in Los Feliz can be done indoor/outdoor and is very affordable.

@babylo0n:  Ohh okay, that makes a big difference that you’ve got food covered! I’m sorry I’m not more help with the area but hope you get more SoCal bees soon! I know around it here it can be a bit trickier to get a place that allows outside catering, sorry it sounds like you’re running into that also.

@babylo0n:  Oh shit! I totally forgot about my alma mater. Check out the Japenese Garden at CSULB. Not sure if you have to use their catering but it’s worth a shot. I actually did catering at the location. It’s ran by 49er shops still. 🙂

Oh and a golf course might let you bring in your own catering, even a yaught club!

@WillyNilly:  Go Beach! 🙂

@babylo0n:  Try Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach.  I got food from them, but I’m pretty sure you can get catered in.  They were very reasonably priced for the area. I absolutely loved working with them.  I just posted a bunch of pictures of our wedding at the location in my recaps if you want to see.  Good luck!
