This isn’t really a result of anyone posting anything, but a girl in my town was texting and driving and got T-boned by a semi and died, just after meeting her boyfriend for lunch.  I’m not sure how people found out, but her boyfriend had just written “Hey why aren’t you answering your phone?  Call me back.” on her FB wall, and people started posting on her wall saying “I just heard the news, RIP” and things like that, and her boyfriend commented saying “…what are you talking about?”  He found out about her death through Facebook.  🙁  I can’t imagine that.

I’m sorry, but I think you all are being really mean about the stillborn baby pictures. It’s a legitimate way to grieve – hospitals do it a lot – and there’s a very human need to share grief. I’m studying for a masters in pastoral counseling, and I see a lot of this kind of thing. Grief is isolating, and that feels even worse. It’s very human to want to share your sense of terrible loss and we might all respond less with “ewww!” than with compassion.
