that’s crazy!!  Have they already booked another wedding or are they asking you if you are ok with it?  I’d talk to her supervisor ASAP and tell them you are NOT ok with this.

I would not stand for that and I would totally fight them on it! Having to share your space with another wedding would totally ruin your event.

@Karina27: I’m sorry, how is it set up? Can they realistically do that? I mean, did your contract say that you can only get 140 guests? Because if you bumped it to 150 THEN you get the whole ballroom but will it be more money?

@Karina27:  I would have “145” guests and just eat the cost of the difference.  Although, I still think unless stated in the contract that they ballroom would be shared if a minimum guest count is not met, the ballroom would be shared – you could have legal grounds to go after them.  It’s implied you would have the space (IMO – but that might just be bridal brain talking).  Do you have any lawyer friends that could look at your contract for you??  Is there anything about the 140 in the contract?

I know this has happened to another Bee, maybe 3-4 months ago, I remember reading in her recaps and she was furious…I think they didn’t tell her beforehand either.

Many big banquet halls have ‘a barricade’ set up.  Meaning sliding walls that seperate rooms.  Could they just have meant that.  Hurray for getting the whole room!!  Sounds like your fiance is a definitely a keeper!!!!

Glad things worked out ok! Coincidentally the Bee who had this problem before just came back to tell her experience on another thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/what-was-the-worst-things-that-happened-at-your-wedding?replies=28. Between thousands of Bees here we’ve probably had the gamut of mishaps happen at our weddings, but somehow it all works out in the end and almost every bride remembers her wedding day fondly despite the problems.

That happened to me!  I walked into my reception about a half hour after all of my guests and found out that my room was being shared with another party, it was awful!  See my post here.
