Two days ago as I was picking up some items at the store on my way home from work, I felt “different”- A little bit of tunnel-vision, kind of like I was watching a movie I was in but coming in and out of it. I had felt the same way the day before and assumed my blood sugar was low, chewed some gum and was find that day. Thursday was different, I felt that way for a bit as I looked for my items at the store and seriously considered crouching down on the floor against a wall to see if it would pass. I did not and it did not. I woke up in an ambulance. I was told I had a seizure and on the way down, went face first onto the corner of a stainless steel fixture. Now, 4 weeks before my wedding date, I have 55 stitches in my forehead in a big “C” shape.
I share this, because who- but all of you- can understand as well the disappointment of this. But on the other hand, I’m hoping to lend some perspective to the planning proceedings we all have. Stressed over a seating chart- don’t be! Bridesmaid or Best Man not as helpful as you hoped- so what? I am bummed of course about the fact that I look like I was hit in the face by a shovel, but I have 4 weeks to heal, and I can certainly get bangs! On the other hand, I could have been driving with my kids in the car when this happened and hurt them or somebody else. My family and friends have been so loving, caring, and generous with me and this situation, that I feel blessed beyond belief.
Remember the reason we are in this- it really isn’t the party, the dress, and the photo-ops- it’s to commit to the one we love. The extras are just that- extras!

I am SO SORRY that this happened to you! I’ve had similar things happen, although thankfully not for years and years. I hope that you heal quickly, and get everything checked out to figure out what triggered this episode. Stay healthy, stay optimistic, and think of the stories you’ll be able to tell!

OMG that is so scary! I’m glad you are okay, do they know what caused you to have the seizure?

@Debbie1031: You are absolutely right. The extras are just extras. The important thing is that you are well and healthy. Seizures is a serious thing. I’m glad your ok. Try getting bangs to hide th scar.

I’m so sorry this happened!!! I’m thankful that you posted this, however, and that like you said it could have been much worse and it really puts into perspective the wedding planning. You will look stunning no matter what on your wedding day, but your health is so much more important! Have you had seizures before? Do the drs know anything about it?

Wow I am so sorry this happend! I had an episode of shakey, weird vision, heart racing and weakness while walking through burlington coat factory a few weeks ago…I knew I needed sugar because I didnt eat much that day and I was running around everywhere….bought starbursts and 15 mins later was perfectly fine….
You have such an optimistic outlook on life and everything in general! There should be more people like you.
I hope you know the source of your seizure, so it can be prevented!
Best of luck <3

Well said… in the end the Wedding (and life really) is JUST ABOUT the LOVE we share… everything else is “superficial window-dressing”
I hope you get heal soon, and the Drs get to the botom of what caused this seizure… so they can treat it … and you can get back to the carefree planning of your happy life and the “extras” that may not be the “meat” in the sandwich… but still fun to have / enjoy
(( HUGS ))

Thank you so much for the kind comments and encouragement. I appreciate it so much! This is my 4th seizure. I had a head injury at 15 (we believe the cause of these) and had seizures at 16, 20, 40, and this week. (I’m 45 now). In every instance there were some commonalities- burning the candle at both ends, very little sleep over a sustained amount of time leading to increased caffeiene intake, leading to dehydration. This set of circumstances seems to create “the perfect storm” for my electrical system to go haywire! I need to be really pay attention to my circumstances. The catscan came back negative, as it always does, I will see a neurologist in the next couple of weeks!
And, since the wedding is around the corner, I am going to try to relax a little and let the joy of it unfold!

@Debbie1031: I’m so sorry to hear this happened! I hope you will be okay and that it’s nothing too serious.
It’s very true what you’ve said, it’s nothing about hair, a dress, flowers – it’s all about the love 🙂 and committment. I had a surgery 10 days ago and have a nice scar down my chest which will be exposed for everyone to see. I had a wonderful plastic surgeon, and luckily it looks pretty good, but it’s clearly there. My wonderful partner never mentions it, but when I bring it up it says it looks better than he thought it would 🙂
It really is a special day to celebrate finding the person you wish to spend your life with 🙂

@Debbie1031: I am am so sorry that this happened, it had to be really scary. Your out look on the whole thing is great. Once the stitches are you find a good vitamin E oil, it helps scars fade faster and I am sure a makeup artist will be able to help cover it.
