I have a 1.5 ct equivalent OEC moissanite on a 5.75 finger, and like teamroro I sometimes wish I had gone smaller. Granted, mine is bezel set which makes it face up larger. When I first joined the Bee I was looking for advice on OEC moissanites and what size to go, and I heard a lot that shrinkage is real – it hasn’t been for me so just take that with a grain of salt. I do love my ring, but it’s the largest among people I know so I sometimes feel a little weird about that. We’re very open about it being a moissanite, however, though I’m sure our friend group (if they knew or cared or even noticed) would guess that we couldn’t afford a diamond of this size.

My suggestions would be: 1) take a look at what is common in your area and see how you feel about the rings you see; and 2) buy a cheap stand-in off Amazon that’s the size you’re considering and wear it for a while to really see if you like it.

heatherlw :  what are the specs?  I’d get the one that has the better specs.

I would do smaller with a moissanite.

heatherlw :  I have a 2.70 on size 6 finger. The first couple of weeks it looked huge to me, now i think its perfect size.

I Would always go bigger, but that’s a pretty byig difference. Will you have to sacrifice on specs for the larger one?  If not, go big!  I just upgraded to a 1.7 and while I love it, I wish it was bigger lol.  Eventually I’ll sell all my pieces and upgrade to a 2+ ct.

     ETA: I wear a size 5.75.

I voted for the larger, but I think either will look great! I have a cheap cz ring this is an 8mm. I thought it was a great size, but after wearing it for a little, thought it started looking smaller so we ended up ordering a 9mm moissanite, which my boyfriend is currently hiding from me until it’s set!

Here is the 8mm cz on my 5.5 finger(this rings a little snug at a 5)

And here is my 9mm moissanite when I was able to sneak some photos before he hid it

Slick :  Thanks! I had David Klass design the setting using an antique ring I saw on Erstwhile Jewelry’s site as inspiration. I love Edwardian styles from the early 1900s, and combined aspects of a couple different rings, one from 1910 and one from 1915. The wedding band I found at a jeweler near where I live but had them make it using diamonds I recycled from another ring I already owned, and the jeweler borrowed my engagement ring to make sure they fit together perfectly.

mrsptobe2017 :  Thank you so much! As always, DK really hit it out of the park! Hope you don’t mind that I am saving it for possible future inspiration? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Slick :  I’m flattered! If you like similar styles, I recommend looking at Erstwhile and Trumpet & Horn for inspiration. Both often have gorgeous details and OECs to admire ๐Ÿ™‚

My diamond is 1.89ct and I have a size 5.75.  I had it originally in a halo, then went to a solitaire then went back to the halo.

I found it got it the way too much as a solitaire so I couldn’t imagine anything bigger.  I personally think 2.7ct borders on the size of too much.  I know very few people that could afford that size in a diamond.  My own sweet spot is somthing more like 1.5ct.

    I would definitely go smaller.

I’d go for 2.7 but I have a 4.5 carat AG (size 6 also) so I may be biased! Good dilemma to have, though ๐Ÿ™‚
