How in the world can anyone drink 64 ounces of water a day? I’ve never been a big drinker and when i did it was usually soda. I have completely cut out everything except water. I have water with me constantly. But i can’t get to 64 ounces! I drink so much now that i feel bloated, overly full and HUGE. And i’m probably only getting a little above half of the recommended amount.

I feel water ice cold is easier to drink than even just chilled. Also having pitchers of Crystal Light in the fridge has made it easier to drink fluid when not wanting plain water.

Maybe add cucumber or lemon to your water? Also, using a straw helps me a lot!

I have found that drinking water at room temp is easier than cold. I can get through about 2 litres of water (room temp) in a few hours, but if it is cold, maybe a glass or two.

The way I understand it, that is the amount of fluid you should take in as a whole. So fruits and other foods that have fluid in them is part of the 64 ounces.
But I might be wrong.

Buy a reusable tumbler cup from target and carry it with you everywhere. I find it much easier to drinnk from a straw.

@ashleyr0512: I used to be that way until they told me that it was imperative to drink at least 80 ounces per day while pregnant. I cut out everything and made it a point to just drink water all day long. Even when I felt full and uncomfortable. Now I’m so used to it that if I drink less than a gallon a day, I feel really thirsty!

I have a water bottle that holds 3 cups. If I divide my day and try to drink one before lunch, one after lunch and one in the evening, then I get my 64 oz in. I agree, it’s hard for the first little while. You can also drink sparkling water or try adding Crystal Light (I keep some in my desk for that) or I actually love grapefruit in my water.

@ashleyr0512: Do you work out? If you think about your consumption as 4-16 oz glasses, it’s way easier!
I have one before and one after working out, one with lunch, and the last one with dinner!

I drink between 2.5 litres (84 ounces) and 3.75 litres (126 ounces) every day.
You said you have water with you constantly – are you sipping on it constantly, or gulping it down every now and then?

I actually found drinking water while pregnant has been easier. I love cold water and can drink lots, now that I’m pregnant my body soaks it up and I’m still thirsty so I keep drinking it.

Thanks for all the advice. I just sip on it throughout the day unless i get really thirsty after exercise or working in the yard. It’s not that i dislike water… I am just so full. I feel like i’m about to burst. Like if i take another sip my stomach will explode

I got a Tervis water bottle that stays cold forever….it’s so nice because I can take it with me anywhere and even leave it in the heat and it stays cold which I think helps to drink it faster. Also…I set up a reasonable time to finish a certain amount of water. For instance every day I drink one water bottle full (24oz) by 10:30am the next by 2:30 and the final by 6:30pm! Having thosedeadlines to finish my bottles by has helped me so so so much! I have no problems getting in my 72oz of water a day now and that’s just from drinking…I also want to say I feel so much better when I do finish all my water! Good luck I hope this helps you like it did me!

I don’t drink as much as I should. I wonder if I did if I wouldn’t be as swollen now! You can always try getting flavors to put in your water…Crystal Light, Mio, those brands who do either powder or liquid water flavoring. That helps mix it up. You can always water down some juice, too.

I, like you, feel gross after downing a ton of water- bloated, full, yuck! I know how good it is for you though, and have some good tricks.. first.. go out and buy a Camelbak waterbottle (http://www.target.com/p/camelbak-bpa-free-eddy-water-bottle-75l-navy/-/A-14150409?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=%7C14150409&CPNG=Kitchen&kpid=14150409&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=14150409&gclid=CMujzZWhr7kCFYyi4AodXlEAuw).
They clearly knew what they were doing when making this- it’s really easier to drink water! I also try to make myself drink a full glass of ice water right when I get up (like- I can’t do anything else til I down that glass!), then hop in the shower and get ready. The chill in the water will jumpstart your metabolism, and I usually don’t have time to think about how full I am since I’m too busy getting ready. I do the same right before bed- usually room temp though. I also just aim to fill my water bottle 3-5 times while at work. Even if you only drink 3 bottles, you have about 75oz of water!
