I’d try 6.25 I now wish I had done 4.75.  They suggested 4.5 but it was soo tight so I went up the size now I have extra room but not enough that it feels loose or anything.

I am a 5.5 and I think I ordered the same online and it fit fine.  Darling Husband had to order a couple of sizes and the largest one fit – he’s keeping both in case he ‘loses weight’, eyeroll…it really depends on the ring, sadly, which will make a custom ring really hard or expensive if you go that route.

If you get it from a jewelers they usually will size it once for free. Keep in mind the weather….where I live I can barely get it on/off in the summer and it looks tight, but in the winter it twirls and is loose….so I went with a size that felt comfortable in normal temps… (60s/70s)

I got sized at the jewelers *shrug* I fit a 4 just fine, but she said “we’ll make that a 3.5”. Good thing she did, because I bought a size 4 faux wedding band and it moves around too much for my liking.

@Sitori:  I would go for the 1/4 size. Also a jeweler can add two little balls on the inside that stop it from spinning and are supposed to be comfortable.

I went into Jared’s and had my finger sized.  The one she told me fit (5) I thoguht was too tight slipping over the knuckle, but she assured me that I didn’t want it to move.  My fiancee bought my ring online at a size 5.  It was a perfect tight fit when I put it on, but the next morning I was freaking out because I couldn’t get it off.

By the way, if this happens to you – olive oil and lotion didn’t work, but windex did!  Spray it with windex and it will slip right off!

Anyway.  I didn’t get it resized because I wanted to wait and see how it fit over a couple of weeks, and I am glad I did.  I found out that:

My fingers swell in the morning, and I can’t get it off.  As long as it isn’t PAINFUL, don’t worry about it.  There is no need to take it off anyway. Usually within a couple of hours it is back down to normal.  My fingers swell sometimes outside in the heat and/or when I am running.  Once again, as long as it isn’t painful, don’t worry about it because the swelling will go down.  Your fingers can also swell if you eat too much salt.  Sometimes my fingers shrink so small that my ring feels like it can almost slip off.  I am definately glad I didn’t up it a quarter size like I wanted to.

So my advice – buy it from a place that will give you one resizing for free.  Even online places like bluenile.com will let you resize it once for free.  If you can’t get it resized for free, a resizing only costs $50-100, depending on the metal etc.  If the 6 ever fits, go with it.  Don’t get a bigger size.  You don’t want to get it too big and then constantly have to worry about it falling off.  You do not want to lose your ring.  If you lose your ring because it was too big, it will cost you a lot more than $50-100 to replace it.

If your finger swells, don’t panic.  The more you angrily twist and pull, the more uncomfortable you will be and it still won’t come off.  I swear windex works.  Spray it on the band and spin the ring a little to get it under the band, and then gently twist and work it off.
